ST. MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS SEPTEMBER 29, 2013

Silent Meditation

Prelude “Wake, awake, for Night is Flying" J.S. Bach

Welcome and Announcements

Confession and Forgiveness

P: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen

P: God of all mercy and consolation, come to the help of your people, turning us from

our sin to live for you alone. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit that we may confess

our sin, receive your forgiveness, and grow into the fullness of Jesus Christ, our Savior

and Lord.

C: Amen

P: You may kneel for confession. Most merciful God,

C: we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned

against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have

left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our

neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.

Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in

your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen

P: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake

God forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the church of Christ,

and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in

the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen

THE APOSTLES’ CREED - Page 105

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy

Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died

and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he

ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come

to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the

forgiveness of sin, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

CHILDREN’S SONG

My God is So Great

My God is so great, so strong and so mighty! There’s nothing my God cannot do!

(clap, clap)

My God is so great, so strong and so mighty! There’s nothing my God cannot do!

The mountains are His, the rivers are His, the stars are His handiwork too!

Everlasting God, you have wonderfully established the ministries of angels and mor-tals. Mercifully grant that as Michael and the angels contend against the cosmic forcesof evil, so by your direction they may help and defend us here on earth, through yourSon, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, oneGod whom we worship and praise with angels and archangels and all the company ofheaven, now and forever. Amen.

A hand touched me and roused me tomy hands and knees. 1lHe said to me,"Daniel, greatly beloved, pay attentionto the words that I am going to speakto you. Stand on your feet, for I havenow been sent to you." So while he wasspeaking this word to me, I stood uptrembling. 12He said to me, "Do notfear, Daniel, for from the first day thatyou set your mind to gain understand-ing and to humble yourself before yourGod, yourwords have been heard, and Ihave come because of your words. 13But

the prince of the kingdom of Persia op-posed me twenty-one days. So Michael, one of the chief princes, came to helpme, and I left him there with the princeof the kingdom of Persia, laand havecome to help you understand what is

to happen to your people at the end ofdays. For there is a further vision forthose days."

12:r'At that time Michael, the greatprince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of an-guish, such as has never occurred sincenations first came into existence. Butat that time your people shall be deliv-ered, everyone who is found written inthe book. 2Many of those who sleep inthe dust of the earth shall awake, someto everlasting life, and some to shameand everlasting contempt. sThose whoare wise shall shine like the brightnessof the sky, and those who lead many torighteousness, like the stars forever andever."

loThen I heard a loud voice in heaven, proclaiming,

for they did not cling to life even inthe face of death.

l2Rejoice then, you heavensand those who dwell in them!

But woe to the earth and the sea,for the devil has come down to

youwith great wrath,

because he knows that his time isshort! "
