Stewardship Thought Stormy seas link the reading from Joband St. Mark’s Gospel. God speaks to Job through a storm. St.Mark retells Jesus scolding His disciples for their lack of faithafter He calms the sea. In turn, they were in great awe of Jesus’power over wind and sea. St. Paul teaches that in Christ, we are

a new creation. As Christian stewards, we find comfort inknowing that the Lord is always there to calm the storm duringchallenging times and to bring peace in our lives.

Development Thought Thanks be to God that he built into thehuman heart an innate desire to give! Each one of us can do ourpart, in one way or another, through the proverbial “time, talentand treasure.” When God touches a heart to give financially, itis wise to be sure your donation will be used for the purposeyou give it. Every donor has that right, especially when givingto support the Church. When giving to our parish or to supportour diocese, you can trust your intent will always be honored. And importantly, you can have the blessed assurance that it isbeing utilized for the highest purpose possible – to help the

Church actively be the Body of Christ and to build theKingdom of God today.

Holy Father’s Prayer Intention for June 2012

Each month, Pope Benedict chooses two prayer intentions, one

for the concerns of the whole church and one for missionaries.

We are invited to join the Holy Father in praying for these

intentions.

General Intention: That believers may recognize in the

Eucharist the living presence of the Risen One whoaccompanies them in daily life.

Missionary Intention: That Christians in Europe mayrediscover their true identity and participate with greaterenthusiasm in the proclamation of the Gospel.

Pro-Life Quote from National Right to Life

What have we done to our children by legalizing abortion andchampioning it? The daily abortion stories, polls, editorials, and

stories showing how the “abortion rights” movement is faring—all this has drummed into our children’s heads the idea thathuman life is not special, is not sanctified, is not a life formedby God but a fertilized ovum that makes demands and can beremoved. (Peggy Noonan, “Abortion’s Children, New York Times, 1/22/98.)

Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty

O God our Creator,

Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,

you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,

bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel

to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us

in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.

Give us the strength of mind and heart

to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;

give us courage in making our voices heard

on behalf of the rights of your Church

and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,

a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters

gathered in your Church

in this decisive hour in the history of our nation,

so that, with every trial withstoodand every danger overcome—

for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,

and all who come after us—

this great land will always be "one nation, under God,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
