ART AND ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY I hope everyone is enjoying a joyous Easter Season!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the core environment team Marta Werner, Phyllis Magee and Mercedes Casey not only for their loving and amazing support, but also their reless work throughout Lent and Holy Week. In turn, the four of us would like to thank all the volunteers who helped us as part of the Art and Environment team for the Holy Week and Easter Lit-urgies:

Virginia Ripa, Perla Takahena, Amy Sinocruz, Judith Inglesby, Penny Huber,

Anita Allen, Andy Domingo, Ray Werner, Julie Moran, Kathey Truschel, Monique Churchill, Hector Colon, Abigail Guzman, Helmy Guzman, Filomena Beltran,

Shelly Vozza, Edna Rabella, Kieu Do, Bro. Phillip Polk, OFM, Kathryn Causee, Jenny Flynn,

Teresa Suarez, Sharon Montano, Sylvia Manalo, Liz Nisberos, Carol Bruynell, Alice Vitug, Liz Rollman,

Kathleen Pollock, Marilyn Gilliland, Maria Schmidt, Max Schmidt, and Ron Schmidt.

A lot of work goes into crea ng an environment that enhances the liturgy, making it a more spiritual and prayerful experience for everyone. Whether each volun-teer contributed one hour or several hours, we could not have accomplished transforming the Serra Center in-to such a beau ful and sacred worship space for Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. There was a lot of sewing, ironing, gluing, hauling, and moving. Everyone did it lovingly, enthusias cally and cheerfully. The environment in the Historic Mission Church and Par-ish Chapel also reflected the different celebra ons held throughout Holy Week and Easter. Special thanks to Tom Crowder who, along with his ushers, makes sure that all the candles are lit prior to Mass and ex nguished a er, along with all his other du-

es. In addi on to the volunteers, we cannot thank enough, the maintenance crew at the parish especially – Lupe, Juan and Paciano, who pa ently hung over 75 banners in the Serra Center and were always willing to help any way they could. Also, many thanks to Lee Bickford whose tre-mendous support allowed us to have what we needed to make our ideas happen. Thank you to Lupe Rios for giving us the inspira on for many wonderful ideas and for helping us to carry them out. We can’t forget to acknowledge and thank all those who gave dona ons for Easter Flowers so that the en-

re parish could join them in offering prayers for their

loved ones. I’m sure all the deceased family and friends are smiling down from heaven at the beauty of all the flowers throughout the Serra Center, Historic Mission and Parish Chapel this Easter. Thank you to Huong Phan for dona ng the beau ful orchids that graced the paschal candle and processional cross in the Serra Cen-ter. Last but not least, a hear elt and very special thank you to our parish priests, Fr. David, Fr. Adrian and Fr. Arturo for, not only their abounding support, but also their encouragement in genera ng new environment ideas and allowing us to follow through. We are truly blessed! Peace and all good, Linda Causee Art & Environment

The Church Celebrates Lent and Easter ~Catholic Up-date Video~ 264.1 Even though many children and even adults iden fy Christmas as the most important Church season, with

me, many of us come to realize through the dying and risings in our own lives the importance of Christ’s Resur-rec on. We know about the birth and miracles of Jesus because He rose to new life a er suffering a horrible death. He rose to new life so that we may know new life a er death. His Resurrec on frees us from sin and death and makes Easter our greatest liturgical season. This 32 minute Catholic Update Video includes story, witness, instruc on and reflec on segments. Franciscan Tom Richsta er presents the overview of the Easter Sea-son from Lent to Pentecost. He emphasizes the central role of Bap sm to our Chris an iden ty and invites us to allow God to take our brokenness and renew us in the spirit of these seasonal celebra ons. We have several DVDs that can be helpful for your spir-itual growth, so come and see!

Abigail Guzmán, Helmy Guzmán, Filimena Beltran, Shelly Vozza, Edna Rabella, Kieu Do, Bro. Phillip Polk, OFM,

Kathryn Causee, Jenny Flynn, Teresa Suarez, Sharon Montano, Sylvia Manalo, Liz Nisberos, Carol Bruynell, Alice Vitug, Liz Rollman, Kathleen Pollock, Marilyn Gilliland,

Maria Schmidt, Max Schmidt and Ron Schmidt.

¡Somos verdaderamente bendecidos!

Paz y bien, Linda Causee Arte y Medio Ambiente
