World Day for Vocations

Sunday, April 24th has been dedicated as the WorldDay for Vocations. This weekend, I encourage you to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.I also ask parents to encourage their children inconsidering that they may have a vocation.

We did not have Mass in Malta, Dodson, and Saco

this weekend due to my recovery from a minor surgery, but the shortage of priests in our diocesecould lead to more parishes, including our own, going without weekend Mass on a regular basis.

Mass Intentions

As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention.

Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, aswell as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones whohave died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information!

Stewardship and Development

Parish Development Thought: Reliability andcertainty. These are the hallmarks of a “CharitableGift Annuity” with the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Montana. You can make a gift to benefit our  parish and, in return, the Catholic Foundation will pay you a fixed percentage of that amount every year for as long as you live. At a great, lock -in and securerate with excellent tax benefits. To learn more, callthe Office of Stewardship and Development at 800-332-9998, ext. 120.

Stewardship Thought: “Shepherding” connectstoday’s readings. In the Acts of the Apostles, Pauland Barnabas are persecuted for preaching aboutChrist. In the Book of Revelation, St. John beautifully describes the faithful who survived thegreat trial for the faith: For the Lamb who is in thecenter of the throne will shepherd them and leadthem to springs of life-giving water. Jesus proclaims

in St. John’s Gospel, My sheep hear my voice; Iknow them, and they follow me. As Shepherd, Jesusleads and guides all who are willing to be Hisdisciples down the path to eternal life. Are we willingto follow Him and accept His challenge of discipleship, in order to have a chance at eternalhappiness with God?

Faithful Citizenship Quote

"I consider the right to vote as essential in ademocracy. If people neglect that basic right, it borders on the sinful, because we have to take part inour democratic process. If we are fortunate enough tohave it we have to take part in it."

Parish Choir Announcement

Dear Parishioners of St. Mary's Church,

If you have not yet heard, Kay has passed on thereins of St. Mary's Choir to us. Dan will be the newchoir director and Kerri will be the organist.

As you have seen, the organ is now in the choir loft. I believe that this is a great opportunity to encourage

family and friends to join. Singing from the back of the church is great fun. It decreases much of the anxi-ety people rarely get when singing. Also we wouldlike to invite any junior high and high school studentsto the choir.

This year, we are taking a different approach to re-hearsals. We are having weekly rehearsals for a cou- ple of months prior to our first scheduled mass of theseason. The choir will develop a basic repertoire of music and master different pieces with three or four  part harmony. We will be making free rehearsal CD's

so that the choir can listen to their respective parts inthe car. Our goal is to have a full repertoire of songs prepared so that we can focus on a few songs at atime and need fewer rehearsals. The rehearsals will be on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM and last for about anhour. The next rehearsal will be Wednesday April 24at 7:00 PM. For students, there will be a separate re-hearsal. For more information or to sign up pleasecontact Dan at 845-264-7577 or e-mail Kerri at [email protected]

God Bless! -- Dan and Kerri Morton

St. Mary’s PCCW Meeting

There will be a meeting of St. Mary’s PCCW in the

church basement on Sunday, April 28th after Mass.
