Hi, I am Richard Jacobson (Dick), the Adoration Coordinator for Christ the King Parish. We began Perpetual Adoration at our parish November 22, 2009 on the Solemnity of Christ the King. At the Vigil Mass, Bishop Olmsted dedicated the St Peregrine Chapel as a Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. What made it unique was its dual role as a Cancer Ministry with the theme, “Strength for the Journey” I remember well the very first time I experienced adoration in the presence of the exposed Eucharist. It was during a retreat, and it was a very awkward time for me because I didn’t know what I was to do with myself in silence for a whole hour. Others around me seemed so engrossed in their thoughts and prayers, but after twenty or thirty minutes I couldn’t imagine what they could be praying or thinking for so long, and we still had half an hour to go. I can now testify that the hour of adoration I spend is no longer awkward for me. I bring books with me, always The Imitation of Christ, and my rosary. There are prayer cards at the entrance of the chapel that people with cancer have asked us to pray for them. Often I just spend time communicating silently with Jesus as I would a friend, and listening for what he might tell me. This is what my hour of adoration is doing for me: I am starting to adore our Lord everywhere I am. The peace this has brought to my life is indescribable. St. Teresa of Calcutta said, “If we want peace we have to learn to talk to God more than man.” Our youth need to learn this too in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. In the near future, there will be Adoration Team members after Mass ready to answer questions and register you as an intentional hourly adorer. Please prayerfully consider being a part of the Adoration Team. We definitely have a need for more adorers. Winter visitors are invited. Pope Paul VI wrote, “To visit the Blessed Sacrament is…a proof of gratitude, an expression of love, and a duty of adoration toward Christ our Lord.” Richard Jacobson Adoration Coordinator www.cancershrine.org

PRAYER OF MERCY
Lord Jesus Christ,
You have taught us to be Merciful like the Heavenly Father. Open my eyes to
see your loving face, and my ears to hear your words that I will be saved.
You are the visible face of the merciful and forgiving Father. Let
everyone who comes to the Church and the ministers feel sought after,
loved and forgiven by God. Grant that by the power of the Spirit I may become an apostle of mercy and
forgiveness to the weak and sinners through the intercession of Mary,
Mother of Mercy. Ame n.
ORACIÓN DE
MISERICORDIA
Señor Jesucristo, Tú nos has enseñado a ser
misericordiosos como el Padre del cielo. Abre mis ojos a tu rostro
Amen.

Oh God, You are my God and I will ever praise You. Oh God, You are my God and I will ever praise You. I will seek You in the morning and I will learn to walk in Your ways And step by step You’ll lead me and I will follow You all of my days.
Sometimes the night was beautiful. Sometimes the sky was so far away. Sometimes it seemed to stoop so close you could touch it, but your heart would break. Sometimes the morning came too soon. Sometimes the day can be so hot. There was so much work left to do, but so much You’d already done. . .
Sometimes I think of Abraham; how one star he saw had been lit for me. He was a stranger to this land. And I am that, no less than he. And on this road to righteousness, sometimes the climb can be so steep. I may falter in my steps, but never beyond Your reach. . .

Lord, I come, I confess, bowing here I find my rest Without You I fall apart, You're the One that guides my heart
Lord, I need You, Oh, I need You, every hour I need You My one defense, my righteousness. Oh God, how I need You
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more. Where grace is found is where You are And where You are, Lord, I am free, holiness is Christ in me
So, teach my song to rise to You when temptation comes my way And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You, Jesus, You're my hope and stay

All creatures of our God and King, Lift up your voice and with us sing.
O, praise Him! Alleluia! Thou burning sun with golden beam, Thou silver moon with softer gleam,
O, praise Him, O praise Him. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
Thou rushing wind that art so strong, Ye clouds that sail in heaven along.
O, praise Him! Alleluia! Thou rising moon, in praise rejoice, Ye lights of evening, find a voice!
Thou flowing water, pure and clear, Make music for thy Lord to hear.
O, praise Him! Alleluia! Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest all both warmth and light,
Let all things their Creator bless, And worship Him in humbleness.
O, praise Him! Alleluia! Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son
And praise the Spirit, Three in one!

Over all the earth you reign on high Ev’ry mountain stream ev’ry sunset sky But my one request, Lord my only aim
Is that You reign in me again.
Lord reign in me reign in Your power Over all my dreams in my darkest hour
You are the Lord of all I am So won’t You reign in me again.
Over ev’ry thought, over ev’ry word May my life reflect the beauty of my Lord.
‘Cause You mean more to me than any earthly thing, So won’t you reign in me again?

I was hungry, and you gave me, all that I was hungry for. I was thirsty, and you gave me, all that I was thirsting for. I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.
I was naked, and you clothed me, with mercy and dignity Sick and broken, and you gave me, your time and your listening I was in prison and you came to me.
Feed my lambs, if you love me. Tend my sheep, if you love me.
Persecuted, tired and homeless, no where to lay my head Man and woman, child and aged, with no one to call a friend. I was lost, and you rescued me.
When did we see you, hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lacking clothes? When were you naked, sick or imprisoned, when did we not visit you? Whatever you did to the least of these, whatever you did to the least of these, you did to me.
Feed my lambs, if you love me. Tend my sheep, if you love me. Feed my sheep, if you love me.
I am hungry, I am thirsty, I am a stranger, I am naked, I am sick, I am in prison, persecuted … and you welcomed me.
