Lent is Re-membering. From day one of my stay here in Christ the King Parish, I’ve been trying to connect with the community by introducing myself to every member I meet. I noticed that many, in turn, would immediately tell me how long have they been here in the parish. I am amazed listening to their stories.

Memory is such an amazing gift God has given us. It allows us to remember events, places and people. So, we must never forget and be grateful to God. During these six weeks of Lent, we take the time to remember, to become more aware of what Jesus has done to save us. We remember Jesus who in many ways has shared his life to set us free. We, as the word in its broken down form, re – member, re – connect because as the early Christians reminded us, forgetfulness is the great sin. All sin, they believed, stems from forgetting that we are connected to God, to God’s creation and to one another. If we forget God, He who gave us visions to live, the Church to guide us, and the Holy Spirit to strengthen and empower us on our journey home - if we forget Him, then we passively allow ourselves to be manipulated by our insatiable desire for power and riches, honor and prestige. In the process, we will forget who we really are. And in the end, we will be doing terrible things. Today and the weeks to come, we remember who we are. We are interconnected but not solitary atoms, interdependent but not self-sufficient individuals, sons and daughters of the same God and responsible stewards of God’s creation. In this regard, I will be happy to join you and your families when you joyfully respond to our parish’s Lenten Mission called “Community Serve Saturdays.” Kindly check with our volunteers after mass, our Bulletin and online: www.ctk-catholic.org to sign up.

God Bless, Father Rolyn Francisco

The 2nd Sunday of Lent February 21, 2016

Cf. Ps 27 (26): 8-9 Of you my heart has spoken: Seek his face. It is your face, O Lord, that I seek; hide not your face from me.

Chris Tomlin | Ed Cash | Jesse Reeves © 2004 worshiptogether.com songs | sixsteps Music | Alletrop Music (Admin. by EMI Christian Music Publishing) | (Admin. by Music Services)

The splendor of the King, Clothed in majesty. Let all the earth rejoice, all the earth rejoice. He wraps Himself in light, and darkness tries to hide. And trembles at His voice, trembles at his voice.

How great is our God, sing with me how great is our God. All will see how great, how great is our God.

Age to age He stands, and time is in His hands. Beginning and the End, Beginning and the End. The Godhead, three in One, Father , Spirit, Son. The Lion and the Lamb, The Lion and the Lamb.

Name above all names, worthy of our praise, my heart will sing how great is our God

Oh God, You are my God and I will ever praise You. Oh God, You are my God and I will ever praise You. I will seek You in the morning and I will learn to walk in Your ways And step by step You’ll lead me and I will follow You all of my days.

Sometimes I think of Abraham; how one star he saw had been lit for me. He was a stranger to this land. And I am that, no less than he. And on this road to righteousness, sometimes the climb can be so steep. I may falter in my steps, but never beyond Your reach.

Mt 17: 5 This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.

Brian Doerkson © 1990Mercy/ Vineyard Publishing, CCLI

Purify my heart, let me be as gold And precious silver Purify my heart, Let me be as gold, pure gold

Refiner's fire My heart's one desire Is to be holy Set apart for You, Lord I choose to be holy Set apart for You, my Master Ready to do Your will

Purify my heart, cleanse me from within And make me holy

Purify my heart, cleanse me from my sin Deep within

Matt Maher © 2003 spiritandsong.com

I’ve been looking for a reason, I’ve been longing for a purpose. I’m losing all my meaning, I’ve run out of excuses. Lord, it’s hard to know You, I don’t always see your plan, But Holiness is calling me, so take me as I am.

You are my everything, you are the song I sing, I’ll do anything for You. Teach me how to pray, to live a life of grace, I’ll go anywhere with you, Jesus, be my everything.

Lord I get so tired of the struggle within. I settle in complacency and I’m weighed down in my sin. So lead me past emotions cause they change with the wind. I want to be a true disciple to daily choose Your hand.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me, have mercy on me.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy on me, have mercy on me.

Amen.

Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you.

You are the Son of the Living God, Jesus, I trust in you. Jesus, I trust in you.

Text: Edwin Hatch Music: ST. COLUMBA

O Breathe on me, O Breath of God, fill me with life anew, that I may love the things You love, and do what You would do.

O Breathe on me, O Breath of God, until my heart is pure, until my will is one with yours, to do and to endure.

O Breathe on me, O Breath of God, my will to Yours incline, Until this selfish part of me glows with Thy fire divine.

O Breathe on me, O Breath of God, so shall I never die, But live with You the perfect life for all eternity.
