Bulletin: Tuesday 12 April 2016 MEDICAL EDUCATION NEWS More expertise for our Med Ed team MCCC GP Training is pleased to announce a range of new appointments to our Medical Education team: Medical Educators Dr Dominic Blanks, Dr Sue Hookey, Dr Ruth Sutherland, and Dr Anthony Weller will join our Medical Education team in the North West. Registrar Medical Educator Dr Evan Schuch (North East) Registrar Liaison Officers Dr Radhika Sheorey (Metro West), Dr Xavier O’Kane (North East), Dr Carolyn Siddel (North West), Dr Myuri Kantharajah (South West) Our new RME and RLOs will join Dr Romarna Dichiera (RME Metro West). Thanks and farewell to outgoing RLOs, Dr Preeya Alexander (RLO Metro West) and Dr Liz Walker (RLO North East) who have made great contributions. New Supervisor Liaison Officer (SLO) We’re pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Helen Dooley to the position of SLO. Helen will act as conduit for information exchange between GP Supervisors and MCCC GP Training, represent the views of GP Supervisors to MCCC GP Training, facilitate communication and provide support to Supervisors. Our SLO also participates in the Supervisor professional development program. GP REGISTRAR UPDATE Are you planning to Fellow this year? If you are working towards Fellowship through RACGP, it is an RACGP requirement to have a
current CPR which meets the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Note: RACGP will not count training time for anyone who is not a member. Applications are now open. Read more here. MCCC is hosting information sessions about GP Training at locations across our region. Visit the website for details about these sessions. We’ve also added a new section to the MCCC website to showcase all accredited GP training practices in our region. “Where you can train” includes links to individual practice websites and a google map feature to highlight practice locations. Opportunity for Supervisors – register now for popular webinar GPSA is offering MCCC GP Supervisors an opportunity to register for an “Identifying and Supporting Registrars at Risk” webinar scheduled for Thursday 28 April between 8-‐9pm. A new guide will be released simultaneously with the same title as the Webinar and participants will receive the first look at this guide during the webinar. The presenter is Dr Konrad Kangru. A maximum of 100 'seats' are available in the webinar licence. Registrations for a GPSA webinar last month closed at 150 registrations the Monday prior to the webinar. Register here

Bulletin: Tuesday 12 April 2016 Pivotal update We appreciate your patience with initial teething issues experienced during the introduction of Pivotal, our new online administration system. If you have questions or need assistance with using Pivotal, please contact your nearest MCCC office. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES MCCC is keen to hear from talented and motivated people who want to contribute to GP Training in our region. Here’s some current and upcoming opportunities: Medical Educators: we are seeking to recruit additional MEs to support GP Training in the North West. Contact NW Regional Manager, Cathy Ward for details. Supervisor Liaison Network: we will soon invite expressions of interest from Supervisors who are interested in joining a new network that will represent the views and interests of Supervisors across our diverse training catchment. The new network will comprise a representative from each of our four sub regions. Members will be paid to meet quarterly (via teleconference) with our SLO. PARTNERSHIP NEWS MCCC recently held its first Aboriginal Health Advisory Committee meeting. Thanks to all who contributed. The work of this Committee underpins our Strategic Plan. The group is Chaired by Linda Moon and has representation from the MCCC Board, a Community Representative, our Regional Managers, a Cultural Mentor, Cultural Educator and our Aboriginal health Liaison Officer. The Group will meet quarterly. BECOME A MEMBER OF MCCC Thanks to practices in our training region who have already nominated a representative for
membership of MCCC. These nominated individuals will have voting rights at our inaugural AGM this Thursday 14 April and can nominate for election as a director at the AGM from 2017. at Western Health and members of the Medical Workforce team who helped spread the word about a recent GP info session held at Footscray Hospital. MCCC enjoyed meeting twenty plus potential applicants who attended the session.
• North East: In response to requests from Practice Managers, the North East recently held video conference sessions (Go To webinars) to share tips for use of the new Pivotal system. These sessions were well received and will continue in future.
• North West: Welcome to new Med Educators joining the team in North West. Congrats to Horsham Hospital who recently hosted a GP info session for interns for the first time ever. Thanks to North West GP Supervisors and Registrars who contributed to this session and another held at Echuca Hospital last week.
• South West: Recent Supervisor and Registrar
workshops have gone very well. We hosted GP information sessions at South West Healthcare and Barwon Health.
