PRESIDENT LALIT DHINGRA INSTALLED

8 August 2013 was another important date for our Club when District Governor VinodBansal visited our club on his Official Visit (GOV) and attended our Installation function

as the Chief Guest.

The DG arrived onthe dot at 6 pm toour delight andstraight away gotdown to business.He had a very briefsession withPresident LalitDhingra, SecretaryAshoo Mittal andPE Pami Bawa andthen invited the

entire Board to joinin. The DG wasjoined by the DistrictDirector (Coord) PPSuresh Gulati,

District Director (Administration) PP Ravi Chaudhry and AG Zone 5 PP AshokKantoor. After a full one hour of a detailed brain storming session with the Clubleaders, the DG appeared to be all ready to talk to the Club and participate in theInstallation Ceremony.

The formalInstallationCeremony wascalled to order byPresident SunilNayar with loudcheers from theaudience. The MC,Rtn PP Atul Devtook overproceedings at thisstage. The NationalAnthem was sungby all memberslead by RAnn DrAnita Singh. Thiswas followed by thereading out of the Four Way Test by Rtn Sunil Bandula. It will be recalled that it wasour Club that started this tradition. This time a further modification was carried out. All

Members would read out the Four Way Test together, to make it a true Rotary Prayer!This suggestion proved very popular amongst our Members and the Four Way Testwas read out once again with all members joining in. After this the DG, Rtn Dr SangitaBansal, the District Officials and our President Lalit Dhingra & RAnn Neetu Dhingra litthe lamp.

President Sunil Nayar then read out his Report for Rotary Year2012-2013 and announced the winners of our three Clubtrophies which were presented by the DG along with the threedonors to Rtn PP Ashoo Mittal (Best Rotarian), RAnn HarpreetKaur Sapra (Best Rotary Ann) and Rtn PP Narender Bhasin(Best Participation in Club Projects & Camps). Theannouncements were received with much thumping of the tables

and loud clapping.

It was time for the transfer of responsibilities and President SunilNayar placed the Presidents Collar around the neck ofPresident Lalit Dhingra amongst thundering applause from theaudience. The Presidents then pinned each other with thePresidents Pin and the IPP Pin respectively. The twoSecretaries Pradip Mitra and Ashoo Mittal then exchangedSecretarys Pins.

The President then made his acceptance speech and gave outhis priorities and programmes for the year. He then invited RtnPP Narender Bhasin to get the Club Souvenir released by theDG. The President then present the new club flag to the DG. Itwill be recalled that the new Club flag has been designed by RtnPP Reet Ahluwalia and was released two years ago. The flaghas now been printed and is available to members to carry withthem when they visit other clubs. The first flag was presented tothe DG .The new President then announced his new team andinvited them onto the stage for a group photograph with the DG.

The next item on the evenings agenda was the Induction of newmembers. The DG was delighted to note that we were about toinduct eleven new members! Unfortunately only nine werepresent to receive their pins and kits in person. Two newmembers would have to be formally inducted at asupplementary ceremony on an appropriate occasion later.

It was time to receive the Blessings of the DG for Rotary Year2013-14. Newly inducted member Rtn Nutan Lugani did acommendable job of introducing the DG.

The DG Blessed incoming President Lalit Dhingra, his team andthe entire Club and gave out his vision for the District for thecoming year and what he expects from our club. He covered all

the five avenues of service and stressed on the Image of Rotaryand the importance of the Rotary Foundation. The DGs speechwas received by members with loud acclaim. He was particularlyimpressed to note that we had already charted our new InteractClub and that we were continuing with our Rotaract Club at theJamia Millia Islamia. He made a pointed reference to our havingadopted our Project with Dr Ruhi Foundation. He noted withgreat satisfaction our Membership growth and was delighted tonote that we had inducted nine new members that evening and

two more were to be inducted later.

After the DG had spoken a formal Vote of Thanks was proposedby Rtn PP Madhusudan Bagrodia. He spoke in his inimitablestyle to thank the DG, Rtn Dr Sangita Bansal, District Officials,Guests, Members and families present.

Mementos were presented to the DG, District Officials and therepresentatives of the three cooperating Organisations of theClub Dr Ruhi Foundation (Ms Rajani Dheer), our PermanentProject; Jamia Millia Islamia (Dr Abid), Our Roract Club; and,Balwantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan (Mr Bahari, Ms Debjani andMs Mukherjee), our Interact Club.

The Secretary Rtn Ashoo Mittal, made his announcements warmly felicitating Rtn Amarjeet Singh (7 Aug) and RtnPresident Lalit Dhingra (11 Aug) for their birthdays and RAnnLalita and Rtn Shashi Bansal (15 Aug) for their WeddingAnniversary.

With this President Lalit Dhingra declared the meeting adjournedafter announcing a Sunshine collection of Rs 2100.

The MC, Rtn PP Atul Dev, invited all present to join in forCocktails and Dinner.
