aside a few minutes to talk with your child to

find out when they attend library.

Yesterday students from Stage 2 and Stage 3 came

together for a quick meeting regarding the Primary

Dance Group which will be performing in the Dubbo

Eisteddfod next term.

Many thanks to the families who supported

the Eumungerie School Fundraiser. We

This term, Stage 1 Grasshoppers are studying colour in

visual arts. Already we have talked about primary and

secondary colours and painted fantastic colour wheels. This

week we are going to look at complementary colours. If

you haven’t already sent in a paint shirt, it would be

wonderful if you could as we will be doing lots of painting

this term.

Say Cheese! School photos will be taking place tomorrow.

All money should have been returned to

school by now and students will need to be

wearing their full summer uniform on the day.

Infants Assembly This week the Stage 1 Grasshoppers will be

running the infants assembly as well as

performing a short item. Assemblies are held in

the school hall at 1pm. We would love to see you all there!

Sun Smart It is still warm and very sunny. All students

need to remember to bring a hat to school. If

you do not have a hat, you will be asked to play

in the shade.

Jolly Phonics has started this week in Kindergarten.

The children will be learning all about the sounds:

Special Education Unit Early Stage 1 & Stage 1News

Every morning, students in the Special Unit take

part in literacy activities. Each class does different

activities such as matching the letters in their

names, identifying spelling words in stories or

tracing over letters in Jolly Phonics – and

everybody enjoys story time.

Tyson matches the letters in his

name.

Wyatt traces

over his Jolly

Phonics letter.

Special Lions look at the words in their big book story.

Music and Movement Class

The young groups who are attending

the weekly music and movement

lessons have already developed a small

repertoire of melodic songs and

rhythms. They are learning to sing and

move to a variety of music.

I would encourage you to talk to your children about

their music lessons and remember that music can be

simply ‘fun’. Music makes people feel good, it rocks

us to sleep and makes us tap our feet. Start playing

music to go to bed and instead of watching television

occasionally put on some music. Mrs Faulds

Cairns Bike Tour

By: Lincoln McBroom

Over the New Year break, I crammed a few changes of

clothes, a map and some camping gear into the panniers of

my Suzuki and pointed north, hoping to reach Cairns. Along

the way I stopped at many great places, met lots of friendly

Queenslanders and rode some amazing mountain roads,

perfect for bikes.

Highlights and lowlights of my holiday included scuba

diving and fishing the Great Barrier Reef, riding the Gillies

and Kennedy Ranges behind Cairns through the rainforests,

staying with my big brother at his new house on the

Sunshine Coast tableland, dropping the bike onto its side off

a loading ramp, and having a tooth pulled out in Mackay.

It was a fantastic trip into the Tropics, spanning just over

5500km. Next time I plan to do two things differently- 1:

visit in Winter, as Summer is the Wet Season and it

POURED most of the way (not so much fun on a bike!!);

and 2: install more seat padding!
