My Heart’s Focus

• The three-fold act of Jesus’ Death, Burial & Resurrection for me.

Without a Doubt…

• The most important series of events in the history of the world are the Death, the Burial and the Resurrection of Jesus. These three inseparable acts are the very foundation of The Faith.

But Why?

• Did you ever ask yourself WHY Christ died on a Cross, was buried for 3 days and rose again from the grave?

• Did you ever wonder if it has meaning for you?

Our Sacrificial Lamb

• Jesus needed to be sacrificed, as “a lamb led to slaughter,” (Isaiah 53), as Isaiah’s son was nearly sacrificed (Gen. 22) to satisfy God’s Justice.

• We needed Him to be our sin offering. (Rom. 8:3)

For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God {did:} sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and {as an offering} for sin… (NAS)

Fulfilled Prophecy

• He had to be crucified, like Moses serpent in the wilderness (Num. 21), pierced through even as David prophesied (Ps. 22), and mourned as the Prophet Zachariah clearly foretold. (See Below)

Zech 12:10- “…so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter weeping over a first-born.”

Superiority of Christ’s Death

• 1 Pet 3:18 - For Christ also died for sins once for all, {the} Just for {the} Unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

• Heb 10:10 - By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the Body of Jesus Christ once for all.

My Freedom at His Expense

• Literally, my Jesus bought man’s freedom from the slavery of sin by accepting on Himself the punishment rightfully due mankind.

• 1 Pet 1:18-19 – “…knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, {the blood} of Christ.

“The wages of sin is death…” (Rom. 6:23a)

By Virtue of His Resurrection…

• Jesus proved Himself to be The WAY, The TRUTH and the LIFE (John 14:6).

• The DOOR to Heaven (John 10:7-10).

• The FIRST FRUIT of the Resurrection. (1 Cor. 15:20)

• The One who holds ALL AUTHORITY over mankind’s

last & greatest enemy, death itself. (1 Cor. 15:20-26).

The Saving Gospel “Model”

• Today and every day, the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of our Lord stands as the very Foundation of the Faith and the original source and model of the very Gospel “by which we are saved.” (1 Cor. 15:1-4).
