•Work out what YOU think about it

•Express your opinions clearly and logically

How to make clear,

logical arguments

An argument is a standpoint with reasons.

To make a good, persuasive argument you must be •clear (easy to understand)•logical (give good reasons)

It’s also essential to have your facts right – you can’t have a good argument if it’s based on incorrect information!

How to make clear,

logical arguments

1. Issue

2. Standpoint

3. Reason

1. Issue

What’s the issue?

What’s happening?

Explain everything you understand about the situation. It’s VERY important to have your facts right here!

What’s the problem, if there is one?

If you have an interesting question about the issue, you could include that here.

3. Reasons

What are the reasons for your standpoint?

Again – be sure to get your facts right.

If you have lots of reasons, remember to group reasons that go together into the same paragraph.
