The Artist of the Year will be invited to attend the Feb 20 committee meeting. Staff introduced a draft agreement for the committee to review, email comments before February 12. Jonni will try to coordinate a 5-minute spotlight before the First Friday.

5. 2015 Youth Arts Scholarship subcommittee update

The committee met via teleconference with UAF admissions to discuss the options for providing funding for a scholarship – what can be tracked, how the money can be limited to just ABUS classes. Lisa will talk to Lorna with Pogo regarding confirmation of funding. The committee needs to establish a proposal that will be reviewed by the board – What is the purpose of the scholarship/how does it correlate with the mission of the committee & chamber? How will the scholarship be funded? How will the scholarship be promoted? How will the scholarship be scored? Given the timeframe of the proposal, this will need to be processed by the board as soon as possible. The Committee would like to present this on February 9 Board meeting. MOTION: A motion was made by Jeremia and seconded to

approve the application and scoring matrix. Motion carried.

6. Friends of the Arts subcommittee update

Subcommittee met and discussed the criteria for the Friends of the Arts award. This would need to be a Chamber business, would recognize them for their support of the arts, converting the previous award to an annual award. The award nomination would be online and submitted to the membership to nominate. The award could be tied to the Forbes Americans for the Arts national award. The committee discussed names for the award – potentially Jo Scott. Cassandra will streamline the nominating criteria, Staff will check to see if the Chamber is still a member of the Americans for the Arts. Deadline to submit the proposal to the board will be June.
