BUSINESS DOCTORS TAKE SOME OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE

Corporate financier and chartered accountant Jeremy Carr, the founder of private equity business Energize Capital, has invested in and joined the board of Business Doctors Group, an SME business support network headquartered in St Helens.

Business Doctors was set up in 2004 by Matthew Levington and Rod Davies and has grown its network through franchising to over 40 offices in the UK and 9 in South Africa so far.

Business Doctors provide hands on, nuts and bolts practical advice to business owners to help them achieve their vision, often with government funded support packages, and they are authors of a book on the subject “Breaking Big.”

The latest news is the launch of Business Doctors Professional Services, a joint venture with chartered accountants Chris Cummings and former ICAEW president Arthur Bailey which provides its professional members with the opportunity of completing their annual Continued Professional Development Training requirements as well as connecting them to a network of advisors delivering the Business Doctors added value service.

Said Jeremy Carr, who has known Levington and Davies for over ten years, “My role is to keep Business Doctors firmly focused on achieving their vision of 130 offices in the UK and 250 overseas. I am the Business Doctor for the Business Doctors! It is going to be an exciting journey.”

Said Rod Davies, joint Managing Director, “We are delighted to welcome Jeremy on to our board. He brings a wealth of experience from a professional services background and also brings with him an opportunity to extend our corporate finance offering to our clients who are looking to sell or raise money to achieve their business plan.”

Carr’s investment follows a recent round of funding from Funding Circle and FW Capital in order to grow the Business Doctors infrastructure which has seen the recruitment of Karen Pennington as Field Support Manager and Rebecca Bamber as Finance Manager and two others.

Anthony Richardson of Transaction Support Services, Tony Woolley of Pareto Tax and Andrew Page of McHale and Co provided financial, taxation and legal advice on the transaction.
