The coast o Croatia and Montenegro is almost too lovely or its own good.

Ancient Greek settlers, Byzantine emperors, Venetian doges, and Ottoman caliphs

have coveted this sun-dappled, island-dotted stretch o the Adriatic Sea. Yet this

magnicent coastline has escaped the machinery o mass tourism. The small,

well-preserved medieval towns lining the coast, the phenomenal monuments, the

palm-lined promenades, and the exuisite land and seascapes have retained their

authenticity and original character.

This ideal corner o the Mediterranean is best explored by sea, especially aboard asmall cruise ship with ew ellow travelers. Our cruise aboard the gracious private

yacht-like Corinthian, which accommodates only 100 guests in 50 suites, allows

travelers to experience the places we visit the way they should be experienced—

with a ew like-minded travelers and at a leisurely pace.

It is in this idyllic environment that our Business Salon at Sea will take place.

Integrating proessional development with the joys o Mediterranean cruising,

Business Salon at Sea seeks to bring women together to inspire collaboration,

provoke new ideas, create new relationships, and rejuvenate our minds

and bodies.

AGENDA  Agenda: With regard to all the agenda items below, we will be

examining how culture impacts the processes we are exploring.

We expect a diverse group o women rom all over the world

who will have varying experiences, expectations and motivationsrelated to these issues. The third agenda item will bring the rst two

explorations to a head in a way that creates in depth meaning or use

upon our return rom paradise to “reality.”

Self-AdvocAcy

The ability to earn your worth and get access to opportunity as well

as support is directly tied to the capacity to elegantly advocate or

onesel. This portion o the seminar will ocus on what keeps us rom

sel-advocating and how to change our own behavior. Tough topics

such as how to ask or more money, or direction, support, and yes,

even eedback, will be addressed.

deciSion MAking

The variables to making uality decisions can be both complex and

nuanced. We will ocus on how we assess risk, maintain our values,

and make commitments that are good or us both personally and

proessionally. By examining the process o decision making and

applying our own personal experiences we will illuminate the path to

more tenable solutions that serve us.

nAvigAting the tenSion BetweenPerSonAl deSire & culturAl exPectAtion

Expanding on the themes o sel-advocacy and decision-making,

we will discuss how culture impacts our ability to claim our personal

desires. Whether it’s our personal cultural background or that o

our industry or business, these external orces play a role in how

we choose our path. By learning how to work within in the context

o cultural expectations, and even push-back to some extent

upon them, we can navigate business with greater ease and less

emotional stress.

Arrive in Venice and transer to the port to embark the Corinthian. Built on an archipelago o small islands in a lagoon, Venice rose to power and fourished,

shaping and dominating or many years the aairs o the Adriatic Sea and the eastern Mediterranean. Unuestionably one o Europe’s most unusual andsublime cities, where water and light work a special magic on the ancient stones and canals, Venice is renowned or its uniue architecture and priceless art

treasures. Sail in the evening.

Morning arrival in Rab Island. Perched on a s loping peninsula overlooking a spacious bay, Rab,

the only town on the small island by the same name, is one o the most beautiul towns along

Croatia’s coast. Four graceul belries pointing to the sky dominate the unspoiled medieval town,

with its narrow streets that are lined with stately mansions and other buildings. The Cathedral

o Sveta Marija Velika (Saint Mary the Great), consecrated in 1177, is an excellent example

o a Romanesue basilica, while its magnicent Bell Tower is a masterpiece o 12th-centuryarchitecture. In the aternoon, Corinthian will cruise through Kornati Archipelago. Consisting o

about 100 islands and islets, the Kornati Archipelago is a national park ormed in 1980 to protect

the islands’ uniue environment. Uninhabited other than by a ew shermen who return every

summer, the Komati Archipelago has become a avored ground o international yachtsmen, who

appreciate the crystal-clear waters and the unspoiled and unusual landscape o the islands.

A vibrant port city, Split is amed or its Palace o Diocletian, built by the Roman emperor in 295-

305  a.d. as his retirement villa. An extensive structure, several parts o which are well-preserved,

the palace contains within its walls Split’s old town, making it the only Roman palace that hasbeen continuously inhabited since Roman times. Among the many impressive parts o the palace

that have survived is Diocletian’s mausoleum, an octagonal structure surrounded by 24 imposing

columns, which now orms part o the city’s Cathedral. The streets and suares o Split’s old

town are lined with stylish boutiues and caés. Ater exploring Split and its amed palace, sail to

the nearby Hvar Island, a ertile island o pale stone houses surrounded by rosemary, lavender,

and laurel. The architecture is unmistakably Venetian, and there are ne ortications. In the

island’s principal town is the 17th-century Municipal Theater, which sits adjacent to the imposing

arsenal, the Venetian Loggia, and the Franciscan Monastery, with its small gallery. Stroll leisurely

through the town’s narrow lanes, and explore the island’s beautiul interior.

The rugged island o Vis was closed to visitors until 1989 or military

reasons, and as a result o this isolation, the island has avoided tourist

development and retains its original character and charm. We will call at

Komiža, a small shing town on the island’s west coast, backed by an

amphitheater o mountains that rame the broad bay. Most o Komiža’sbuildings date rom the 16 th to 17th centuries, as the balconied houses

that line the streets attest. The Kaštel, built by Venice in 1585, houses an

art gallery, while the palm-lined promenade hugs the bay and leads to the

market and the Renaissance Zanetova Palace. Exploring Komiža on oot

is a most enjoyable experience. Over lunch aboard, sail to Lastovo. Small

and remote, and with a population o less than 1,500 persons, Lastovo

is one o Croatia’s most unspoiled and striking islands. The ship will call

at the antastic bay o Velji Lago. From here, it is a short ride to Lastovo

Town, the island’s capital, which is beautiully spread on hills above a

green plain. 15th- and 16th-century buildings line the town’s narrow lanes.

From the port o Ploce, drive to Bosnia and Herzegovina to explore Mostar. Although undoubtedly an

ancient Roman settlement, the majestic town o Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina rose to prominence

in the 15th century under the Ottoman Turks, who created a thriving center on the banks o the emerald

Neretva River. Damaged by the military confict in the 1990s, the town has been careully restored by

UNESCO and declared a World Heritage site. Admire the ethereally graceul Stari Most (Old Bridge),

originally built in 1566, the nearby Tabacica Mosue, and an old Turkish house, among other sites.

As the ship approaches Korcula Island, enjoy the regal skyline with its white limestone towers, spires, and

domes resting against a background o green hills. Ashore, note the uniue layout o the medieval town,

with western streets running straight to unnel the rereshing maestral breezes, while the eastern streets

are slightly curved to minimize the bura winds. Korcula’s sublime architecture is dominated by Venetian

infuence, as seen in St. Mark’s Cathedral, which houses works by Tintoretto, the Bishop’s Palace, the

Town Museum (located in the 16th-century Gabriellis Palace), and the Church o All Saints. The Icon

Museum houses a superb collection o religious art. In addition to exploring Korcula town, we will also take

an excursion to the island’s interior to discover its beautiul countryside and unspoiled villages.

Be on deck as the ship navigates Montenegro’s jord-like Bay o Kotor to the town o Kotor,

located at the head o the bay beneath towering mountains. One o the best-preserved medieval

towns along the coast, and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site, Kotor’s history is entwined

with that o the Venetian Empire. A walk through the delightul and compact car-ree town

reveals its magnicent walls, palaces, and churches, including the Drago Palace, with its elegantRenaissance windows, the 12th-century St. Tryphon Cathedral, and the baroue Lipovac Palace

In the aternoon, sail to nearby Dubrovnik. Set on a rocky peninsula jutting into the Adriatic Sea,

Dubrovnik is one o Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. Its ancient walls enclose narrow

cobbled streets and alleyways, palaces, and mansions as well as other monuments. Good

examples o these include the Franciscan Monastery and its Old Pharmacy, operating since 1317,

the Dominican Monastery and the adjacent museum, which contains works by Titian, the Rector’s

Palace, and the Cathedral o Our Lady. Overnight aboard, docked in Dubrovnik.

In an era o mega cruise ships that carry thousands o passengers, Corinthian

is a delightul alternative. More like a private yacht than a cruise ship, Corinthian

accommodates only 100 guests in 50 suites. Corinthian’s limited guest capacity,

ne acilities, and distinctive style o operation make it the nest cruise ship to

operate exclusively along Croatia’s and Montenegro’s coast. Indeed, Corinthian

oers a style o cruising that is rarely ound today.
