The Search For The Northwest PassageIn 1535, Jacques Cartier and 112 more men left
France and sailed up the St. Lawrence river to the Iroquoian capital of Stadacona. He reached the location of Modern-day Montreal on October 2, 1535, rapids prevented him from continuing. Cartier believed the rapids were the last obstacle in his discovery of the Northwest Passage. These days the town on the banks of the rapids is called Lachine, (Lachine is French for China).
The ideal plan was to find Asia but instead Cartier found an area in Canada. So Jacques Cartier failed on his mission to Asia but found a new piece of land in Canada.

The Conflict Between Europeans and Native American
Ehan and Ashley
The Europeans introduced Native Americans to guns, sugarcane and horses. The Europeans brought measles and smallpox , witch could kill them.
They used gun to take whatever they wanted. They thought they had the right to do this.
When Europeans built villages and cities, they often cleared forests. These forests were the homes of many of the wild animals the Native Americans hunted. Most tribes that survived were forced to move west.
