INTIMACY By John Sorrells, Senior Pastor
Hello Crosspoint Family and Friends!
What could be more liberating than complete honesty? We hear this often in relational environments—take your mask
off and reveal the real you. It is too often the reality that what is seen in the van behind sliding doors differs from what
steps out onto the parking lot. Putting a church face on or disguising life’s realities behind a smiling façade is not only
difficult, but it is also impractical and unbearable. This month, intimacy is the word on which I want us to focus. Inti-
macy can be defined as a close personal relationship; a detailed knowledge resulting from a close or long association or
study. The psalmist reveals that God is “intimately acquainted with all my ways” (Ps. 139:3).
Consider that first definition. Intimacy is a close personal relationship. That sounds exactly what each of us desire in
Christ Jesus—a personal relationship. God knows each of us better than we know ourselves. He has detailed
knowledge of us. He desires the same from us in our establishing a relationship with Him that is personal—that we
would walk closely with him and study His ways and His character. We come to know Him as we spend more time with
Him. His word gives us detailed knowledge.
The church is to always be a safe place where people are in relationship with one another. We share with one another.
We care for one another. Recently, I challenged us to love God well and love others well. Crosspoint is to be a church
home where people feel intimately acquainted with one another. In our welcome, in our Community Points, in our
conversations and in our fellowship, we are to nurture this quality of trust, care and charity toward one another. I want
to encourage each of you to be intentional about continuing this atmosphere of intimacy—sensitively nurturing rela-
tionships that are open, honest, real and close. History is a great teacher. We must purpose ourselves toward this im-
portant quality.
Jesus told his disciples that “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Let us love God well. Let us love Jesus well. Let us love others well.
Love God! Love others! Serve!
Pastor John

Student Life
Camp Report
We had a won-
derful week at
Student Life
Camp on the
c a m p u s o f
Wake Forest
University. God
c e r t a i n l y
blessed us with
beautiful weath-
er for camp.
Our theme this
year was “Come to the Table ”—a deep look into coming to
God’s table with a thirst and hunger for Him. Pastor Chad Poe
challenged our students with eight powerful messages,
throughout the week, to go along with our nine student group
bible studies, and nine personal devotional times. It was an
amazing experience to watch our students dive deep into
God’s Word together until the early morning hours.
The students had a lot of fun during six different recreation
rotations that brought us even closer together. We were even
able to enjoy a late night trip out just to bond together over
slushies. Each morning I expected to see them exhausted
from the day before, but seeing them encouraging, praying ,
and lifting one another up was inspiring to say the least. Our
students grew not only spiritually this week, but also took
some large steps in unity. I was blown away as I watched bar-
riers of age torn down, by watching our older students mentor-
ing our younger ones.
This was a fantastic week that was made possible by the pray-
ers and support of our church. Thank you for all the sacrifices
and donations you made to make this possible for our stu-
dents .

Music Ministry by Ryan Peters
June was a very busy month in the life of Crosspoint.
The month started with the hiring of Leejah
Ross, as the new Preschool/Nursery Direc-
tor. Leejah and her husband, Michael,
came from Biltmore Baptist Church in
Asheville, NC, where she worked in their
five year old department. She comes with
a lot of great ideas and enthusiasm for our
Preschool and Nursery areas.
Then two weeks later we hired Amy Jones
as our new Children’s Director. Amy and
her husband, Jeff, have been members of
Crosspoint for a several years, and they
both have actively served in our children’s
ministry. This was a much needed position
for all of the young families currently at-
tending Crosspoint. Amy has planned some great ac-
tivities for our children this summer. I am looking for-
ward to what God has in store for the future of
Crosspoint with our new staff members. I wanted to thank Kimberly Richens for serving as our
nursery coordinator over the past year. She has imple-
mented many new things that improved our nursery
tremendously and made it a clean, safe and organized
area. With Tia graduating and heading off to college,
Kimberly and Stephen felt that they needed to be avail-
able as they enter into this new season of life.
June ended with the
purchase of a new
2015 bus. With the
growth of our youth
and their activities, a
bus was a definite
need. In addition, our
super seniors and other ministries within the church
had to rent a bus several times over the past year.
This was a great investment for the future of
Crosspoint!
I wanted to thank all of the
volunteers for their hard
work and long hours they
dedicated to our VBS over
the last month. It was great
to see the kids so excited
each night and their eager-
ness to learn about God’s
power to provide, comfort,
heal, forgive, and love us
forever. A special thanks goes to Julie Tracy, our VBS
director, for leading us through the week. It is always
sad to see VBS come to an end, but next year will be
here before we know it.
