What was the purpose of scribe school?
• to teach children the Egyptian language starting at age 10.
• Imagine if we didn't have news people and news papers and other things that helps us remember important moments in history. That’s what scribes are for.
• They also did the census
What are the typical tool and materials that scribes used
• The tablets were made of wood or stone
• For paper they used papyrus
• They only used black and red ink
• The pens were sharpened reeds
What would a scribe schoolteacher mean when he said”A youngster's ear
• It means when a young student didn’t listen the teacher would smack him on the back
• The kids in scribe school were not treated nicely
Why were scribes important in Ancient Egypt
• They were important because they documented how many people lived there.
• They were also important because they documented the pharaohs achievements.
What are other important things that kids should know about scribes
• Scribes had to learn hieroglyphs
• There are over 700 hieroglyphics
