Kit Development Background
LM Aero goal – to develop retrofit kits that: – reduce aircraft operating and maintenance costs – increase flight safety and flight crew situational awareness – provide additional mission capabilities
• How Our Current 2011 List was developed:
– Inquiries were sent out to all C-130 Field Service Representatives worldwide, Business Development personnel, C-130 Program and LM Field Offices at WR-ALC
– Over 50 suggested Upgrade ideas compiled – Kits were then prioritized by most requested or most effective

EO/IR “Chin Mount” Turret Retrofit Kit
• Provides additional mission capability to C-130s – Provides provisions to install EO/IR
sensors capable of 360o field of view coverage
– Adds sensor capability to support Search & Rescue, Surveillance and Interdiction missions.
– Based on proven LM Aero Production Installations on HC/MC-130J, USCG C-130J and Indian Air Force C-130J aircraft

Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS)
• Prevention of Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) Accidents • Over the years, approximately 30 CFIT accidents involving C-130s
have occurred resulting in over 433 lives lost • EGPWS is a Mark II & VII GPWS Form/Fit/Function replacement
– replaces the Radio Altimeter Instrument with new combination Terrain Display & Radio Altimeter
– minimal Instrument Panel modification required – greatly increased flight crew situational awareness

Air-to-Air Refueling Tanker
• Converts basic Combat Delivery C-130E/H into the KC-130 configuration for Probe & Drogue Refueling
• Retrofit Kit Based on proven LM Aero Service Bulletins

Electronic Engine Instrument Display
• Based on a recent LM Aero modification kit • Replaces 43 individual electro-mechanical
instruments with two LCD displays providing greatly reduced logistics and maintenance requirements
• Improved readability • Engine Data Concentrator Unit collects and converts
Analog to ARINC 429 Digital (Engine, Hydraulic, Trim) • Digital output of data that can be recorded for easier
maintenance troubleshooting, exceedences and trend data

Digital Interphone System Upgrade
• Replaces older analog-type ICS with modern Digital System
• Much quieter ICS with increased capability

• Replaces the five Flight Deck and two Cargo Compartment ICS Stations
• Easily expandable if additional Stations required • Based on a proven LM Aero Retrofit Kit

System Upgrade • Replaces older GTC/ATM and
smaller Cargo ECS • Increase from 20 KVA to 40 KVA

Underdeck Cargo Winch
• Installs 6,500 lb capacity Cargo Winch with a 200 foot cable under the Cargo Floor. Increases usable Cargo Floor area and reduces clutter
• Eliminates the need to relocate the standard above floor 300 lb “Bulldog’ Winch and reduces Loadmaster workload
• Variable 2-Speed Control Pendant with 25 foot cord allows safer control and closer monitoring of load movement by the Loadmaster
• Based on proven LM Aero Production Winch installation on C-130J aircraft with the Enhanced Cargo Handling System (ECHS)

Embedded Airdrop Towplate
• Installs the C-130J Embedded Airdrop Towplate into the Cargo Ramp - Reduces aircraft configuration time for Towplate Airdrop from 1 hour to 5 minutes
• Provides increased Airdrop Release Accuracy utilizing Drogue Chute versus large Extraction Chute deployment
• Based on proven LM Aero Production Installations on C-130J aircraft with the ECHS adapted to C-130B-H
