Pastors Corner
The flowers! We come to Church on Easter
and are overwhelmed with the beauty and
fragrance of flowers. Here is an obvious
question: Why flowers? Why do we fill the
Church with flowers to celebrate Easter? The
answer is far more than Easter takes place in
the Spring when the flowers begin to bloom.
There is a deeper meaning than that. The
flowers signify the beauty of a world renewed. Easter
celebrates the beauty of renewed life in Christ.
John’s Gospel tells us that the world was darkened when
Jesus died on that horrible hill. It also tells us that He was
raised from the dead and walked out of the tomb into a
garden, one so full of flowers that Mary Magdalene initially
thought that Jesus was the gardener.
The flowers are a symbol of the new life that the Lord
offers to those who will commit their lives to Him. We are
called to be part of this beauty. We are called to be flowers.

The Family of Don Church wishes to sincerely
thank all the people who have made our loss a
bit lighter with your messages of condolence,
our gifts of food, your participation in the funeral
mass, your hugs, and your prayers. Many
thanks to Fr. Ron Boudreaux and Fr. Tom Kennedy for
celebrating the mass itself; thanks to all the musicians,
Sharon, Monica, and all who sang the songs that Don had
requested; to J.R. and Pat Boerner who served as
Eucharistic ministers; to all the wonderful cooks who
brought food and those who so graciously served it; to all
who sent flowers; to those who had masses offered; and to
those who sent beautiful cards of sympathy. A special
thanks to the 4th Degree Knights for the lovely chalice
donated in Don’s name and for the Color Guard who
ushered us into the church and then ushered us out.
You have all helped to lift us up and helped us bear our
burden of grief.
