to be sorted by their schools. The sorting of the students by school can be done with smallerpackets, clearly identified, or by clipping all of them together with a note indicating the school. We feel that this change from last year will avoid the chaos of having all the paperwork beingassembled on the day of the fair. Parish coordinators should send their packets to:

Ross Chiquet or Scott SorrellMathematics DepartmentPO Box 1010Lafayette, LA, 70504

All Parish Science Fairs must be held on or before February 21, 2011 in order

to process all entries prior to the regional fair.

All paperwork for Region VI competition is due by February 25, 2011. We

    will not accept late paperwork.

Rules and Regulations SummaryThese rules and regulations are a partial listing derived from the 2010-2011 Intel InternationalScience and Engineering Fair Rules Booklet. Both the Regional and State Science Fairs areplanning on using the I.S.E.F. rules book. The Louisiana Region VI Science and EngineeringFair will provide each parish supervisor with one copy of the rules booklet. All forms, certifications, rules, and guidelines needed for research are available on-line athttp://www.societyforscience.org/isef/rulesandguidelines.

    1. Each entrant may enter only one research project. The scientific work in individual categories

must be the work of the individual, not the work of a group, class, or instructor. In teamcategory only, a team may consist of 2 or 3 members. However, each member should be equallyinvolved in the work of the project. One or more team members may be present for the judgingprocess, and all are eligible to present/speak.

    2. Projects are to conform to grade-level divisions and academic disciplines. Once a project isentered into a particular discipline, it cannot be changed. The official categories establishedfor grouping and judging science research projects in both the Junior and Senior Divisions areidentical, and are as follows: Animal Sciences, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Biochemistry,Cellular and Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth and Planetary Science,Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Bioengineering, Energy andTransportation, Environment Management, Environmental Sciences, Mathematical Sciences,Medicine and Health Sciences, Microbiology, Physics and Astronomy, Plant Sciences, and TeamProjects.
