Mobile subscribers largest in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu

The countrys most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, accounts for the

largest number of mobile subscribers in the country followed by TamilNadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, which together accountfor almost half of the total wireless connections.India, which is theworlds second largest mobile phone market in terms of subscribers, hada total of 861.66 million mobile connections as on February 2013, datafrom telecom regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)showed.Uttar Pradesh has a total of 121.60 million mobile phoneconnections, while, Tamil Nadu has 71.81 million subscribers, accordingto the TRAI data.Maharashtra is at the third position, with a subscriberbase of 67.73 million followed by Andhra Pradesh and Bihar at 64.12million and 60.73 million, respectively.

Tirath launched the World Bank assisted ICDS Systems Strengtheningand Nutrition Improvement Project (ISSNIP) at New Delhi.Theprogramme aims at improving child development and nutritionaloutcomes for children in selected districts having higher proportional ofchild under nutrition. Total size of the project is Rs. 2893 crore with 70percent IDA share of Rs. 2025 crore (USD$ 450 million) over 7 years.The estimated cost of phase 1 of the project is about US$ 151.50 million(Rs. 682 crore) of which US$ 106 million is the IDA share (70 percent).

He was born in1940 and completed his BSc in civil engineering from VikramUniversity.From 1980, he edited the journal named the IslamicPerspective and during 1980s he published a series of books on Islam

First Boeing P-8I Aircraft joins Indian Navy

Indian Naval Aviation received a major fillip with the arrival of the first ofeight Boeing P-8I Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance and AntiSubmarine Warfare aircraft at Naval Air Station Rajali, Arakkonam, TamilNadu on 15 May 13. The P-8I aircraft, based on the Boeing 737-800(NG) airframe, is the Indian Naval variant of the P-8A Poseidon ofthe US Navy. The aircraft is equipped with both foreign as well asindigenous sensors for Maritime Reconnaissance, Anti Submarineoperations and for Electronic Intelligence missions.
