There were not any excuses available to any pilot and the wind with everything else played perfectly for a stunning day. Even the sun worked very well and Dave with his Mobile Snoopy had a good day on the refreshments side. Our Sg of the day was Willem van der Veer. He had a good day in the sun with bribes galore. In the future, maybe the Sg might be easy to recognize, especially if he eats all the sweets that he receives from the bribes…. The 2015 CA flying season started!

Wi th the support of Frasers and hosng by Silverton Model Flying Club, the 2015 CA season started with a

bang!

There were some changes as CA events are now taking place on Sundays Sundays Sundays to accommodate the sponsors.

Some pilots complained with reason but “stealing” one Sunday every second month is not to bad we think. The ma)er was

also discussed with the a)ending pilots on the day with the approval we belief this ma)er is now closed by majority rule. It

can change over me if there is reason for any specific event of course but it will stay as is for now.

At this event we also tested a Fun Fly (FF) acvity. The idea is and was to test such an event because it would give FF pilots

more opportunity during the year to pracce. Obviously the results are not part of their Naonal plan, purely for fun and

spectator value. We learned quite a lot and will keep working on this for the future.

On the day we saw total 28 entries of which 6 was Top Notch, 8 Standard Class and 4 for Fun Fly. CA did 2 rounds and FF

did 5 rounds. FF started te day with 2 rounds, that was followed by CA rounds 1, then FF round 3 and 4 and the day end-

ed with CA round 2 and FF round 5. From there we did the Speed Tesng and the event closed about 15H00.

The weather was magic to say the least and SMFC in mint condion! There were not any excuses available to any pilot

and the wind with everything else played perfectly for a stunning day. Even the sun worked very well and Dave with his

Mobile Snoopy had a good day on the refreshments side.

Our Sg of the day was Willem van der Veer. He had a good day in the sun with bribes galore. In the future, maybe the

Sg might be easy to recognize, especially if he eats all the sweets that he receives from the bribes…. Thank you Willem

for the “onbaatsugge” effort, it is appreciated more than we can say.

Top Notch

In Top Notch we saw 6 entries with Mr Cool (Arney Sieling) entering Fixed Wing and Heli..interesng stuff! It was

also only the second me Roly parcipated in TN a?er he was bumped up at the end of 2014. On the side we

also saw Thirsty (Ma)hew Hirst) parcipang for the first me with his “F3A Sck”.

Thirsty with his special edion….

Die Hard (Andre van Huysteen) had a crappy first

round (52%) but a much be)er second round at 67%

but ...that was not enough to keep his “Kite for longest

flight” price away from him.

Posion Name Call Name Result

1 Arney Sieling Mr Cool 75.00%

2 Ma)hew Hirst Thirsty 68.42%

3 Arney Sieling Mr Cool 67.76%

4 Hercules Myburgh Baron von Razzler 64.80%

5 Roland Suhrmuller Roly 64.47%

6 Andre van Huysteen Die Hard 59.87%

Fun Fly

I n tesng Fun Fly with CA, we only saw 4 entries. A mistake might have been for these chaps not to enter CA as

well. If entered CA it might have kept them busy for the day! It was great to see them around and to see what FF

is all about. Pre)y fast pace and if you blink, you might have missed the flight!

We had to really focus to follow the

acvies and it seems like the pilots got

hungry at some point! But thanks to

Boats, he was ready with some Marie-

biscuits. He did not share those with the

rest but at least the FF pilots had some-

thing to eat...

Standard Class

SSSS tandard saw 8 entries and Smeitjie (Jaco Smeiman) had to leave a?er round one due to other problems. Hope it

ended well Jaco. The guys did well in general with good grouping but ai...Sielie brought his “plenty years old

sck” with an Eskom Power Train...it died during both rounds. That guaranteed him the Kite for longest flight!

Overall, 5 pilots from SMFC parcipated which was great to see. Well done guys! You did SMFC proud I think.

Timjan and Boyscout was compeng seriously and Timjan managed to stay ahead in the end with only 0.99%! “Dis ook maar

net-net” I think.

Speed Tesng

The Speed Tesng went very well with 16 entries. This is always interesng and fun as only a few pilots actually knows

the speed of their cra?. To many it was a big surprise to see the actual speed and learn from that.

It was no surprise when Allen booked the fastest me at 215.35 km/h. Garth with his Quicky (Witblits type) had issues

at high speed, would ne nice to see that cra? fully trimmed at high speed.
