Specification Guide
For a simple price estimate, Sensio has calculated a price per linear foot for LED kitchen cab-
inet lighting. This is an estimated cost for lighting a single zone (over-cabinet, under-cabinet
or toe kick) of a kitchen. The actual price may vary based on appliances, breaks in cabinetry
and the types of lighting and accessories the customer chooses.

Kitchen Cabinet Lighting
Almost every new kitchen has lighting incorporated into the design, yet typically not by the kitchen designer because lighting has been too confusing. With the 2020 Lighting Wizard and Sensio Lighting, now you can easily add high quality LED lighting to every zone of your kitchen designs. Choose be-tween puck lights and low profile flexible strips, all dimmable with standard dimmer switches using Sensio’s innovative dimmable driver. Plus, the lights can be controlled with infrared sensors mounted inside or outside the cabinets or wireless multi-zone switches. Available in warm or cool light tempera-tures, these efficient LED lights are built to last as long as the kitchen.
Place pucks or flexible strips under the cabinets for con-
venient task lighting.
Over cabinet lighting adds a great effect and offers per-
fect mood lighting at night.
Toe kick lighting is perfect for added mood lighting and
to show off that beautiful new flooring.
In cabinet lighting looks great with glass doors and adds
a unique effect to any kitchen.

Pucks Lights are typically used under-cabinets, over-cabinets and in-cabinets with glass doors. They have an attached cable that runs to a driver and simply plugs in to power the lights.
Flexible Strips can be used over-cabinets, in-cabinets, under-cabinets and at the toe kick. When used in-cabinets, they can be hidden behind the face frame for full illuminate even when shelving is in place. At the end of a custom length of strip, a driver lead is used to connect them to the driver for power.
Connectors are hidden behind face frames or mold-ings and run to a driver in a concealed location for power.
LED Drivers are easily hidden on the top of wall cabi-nets or inside at the back of base cabinets near availa-ble electrical outlets wired to wall switches for control. Most kitchens have available outlets near a microwave or dishwasher that can be used for cabinet lighting.

cabinet lighting using existing "legacy" dimmer switches. These drivers are compatible with standard Triac or ELV dimmer switches available in most DIY stores. One
other great feature of the driver is because it dims on the high voltage side of the current, it preserves the long life of the LEDs it dims. Multiple drivers may be tied into

Voltage
Sensio LED lighting runs on low voltage power
Sensio drivers are plugged into a 120 volt outlet
The driver then converts the 120 volts to 24 volts for the lighting products it powers
Wattage
The wattage of the driver determines how many lights it can power. For example:
A 20 watt driver can power six 3 watt puck lights (6 pucks * 3 watts = 18 watts)
120V
24V
3 watt puck lights
Ports
A driver may have 4 or 12 ports, depending on its size
The driver on the left has 12 ports (6 on one side and 6 on the other)

Accent Lighting Lighting that is used to accent or highlight a particular object such as the inside of a cabinet.
Ambient Lighting General room lighting, natural and otherwise, that lights up an entire room or space.
Average Rated Life The life of an LED is defined as the operating time in hours for the lamp to reach L70 which designates 70% lumen mainte-nance (or 30% reduction in initial light output).
Beam Angle The useable portion of the cone of light cast by a lamp defined at the point where the candlepower falls to 50% of the can-dlepower at the center.
Color Temperature A measure of the color appearance or hue of a light source which helps describe the apparent "warmth" (reddish) or "coolness" (bluish) of that light source. Generally, light sources below 3200K are considered "warm;" while those above 4000K are considered “daylight” or "cool" light sources.
Dimmable Driver This driver allows you to dim your strips and/or pucks with the convenience of widely available dimmer switches. No longer are you forced to invest in expensive, specialized equipment to dial in the mood you are looking for.
Diode A two-terminal semiconductor device having a p-n (positive-negative) junction which allows energy travel in one direction.
Driver An electronic device that acts as the power supply for LEDs. A driver converts from AC to DC and regulates the current in order to maintain steady lumen output and prevent variation.
Hardwired Technically means that the light fixture is permanently connected to an electrical source. The light fixture is not hardwired if it gets power via a cord & plug.
Kelvin Temperature scale that references to absolute zero (0 degrees Kelvin), which, in theory, is the absence of all thermal ener-gy. In lighting, the Kelvin temperature scale is useful when describing the color temperature of a light source (warm vs. cool).
LED (Light Emitting Diode) A small electronic device that lights up when electricity is passed through it. LEDs are very energy-efficient and have very long lives. They are solid state so they do not break easily and are small in size.
Lumen Lumen (lm) is a measure of luminous flux or quantity of light emitted by a source; light intensity.
SLS A semi-translucent lens that creates a soft (diffused) light and eliminates the hot spots of seeing individual diodes.
Standard Driver This robust power source features overload protection, open circuit protection, short circuit protection, and heat protec-tion. They cannot directly dim.
Task Lighting Lighting that is specifically installed to light an area where a task is performed and is brighter than effect or accent lighting. Under cabinet lighting used in a kitchen is a good example of task lighting.
Lighting Glossary
What are LEDs?
LEDs (Light-Emitting Diodes) are a solid state lighting source that are similar to a computer chip. They do not have a tube or a bulb. LEDs are therefore much more efficient, durable, and safe than older light sources.
What is the beam angle of the LED?
Each LED diode casts a cone of light in a circle. The angle of the beam it casts will dictate the size of the area to be covered in light. The greater the beam angle is, the larger the area illuminated will be.
Why do I need an LED driver?
LEDs operate on low voltage power which is another reason that LEDs are safer than traditional lighting. The driver takes high voltage AC house power and converts it into low voltage DC power.
How do I get my LED lights to dim?
There are two ways to achieve a “dimmable” solution: (1) The Sensio Dimmable driver allows you to dim using a standard wall dimmer switch with your lighting. (2) Sensio has a Wireless 4 zone wall dimmer and receiver that can be used with standard Sensio drivers.
What is the difference between Sensio LEDs and the lights I find on the Internet?
LEDs vary dramatically in quality. Sensio uses only the top 5% of LEDs manufactured and leverages the most up to date pa-tents. These efforts ensure that the lighting color and intensity is consistent across your entire room and that the products will last for decades to come. Sensio LED lights and components come with a Lifetime Warranty.
Who do I contact if there is an installation question?
Technical support is always available to ensure the lighting gets installed correctly. Should you have general questions or need help with a lighting plan, feel free to email [email protected] or call 866-842-4360 for prompt, professional support.

How much do I need to specify for shipping? You will need to select “Sensio $25.00” in the Freight field in DSI. All orders regardless of size (quantity of items and/or dollar value) have a flat fee of $25.00. If you do not do include this $25.00 freight fee in the Purchase Order the Purchase Order will be returned to you asking that you correct and resubmit the Purchase Order.
Can I remove a driver that was automatically added? In this scenario we have two cabinet runs that are separated by a space, we have specified for the Lighting Wizard to use LED Pucks for the under-cabinet task lighting. The Lighting Wizard has added a driver for each of the cabinet runs but you would like to remove one of the drivers. To remove one of the drivers you will need to access the Lighting Wizard and select Manual Selection. In the Under Wall Cabinet section, highlight the driver you would like to delete and select the <Del button.
Since you are deleting an items that were added using the Lighting Wizard automation, a popup message will appear to confirm that you want to dis-able the automation. At the top of the Lighting Wizard it will say Automation Disabled. When you click on OK to apply the setting the unwanted driver will be removed. You will need to make sure that the driver can support the additional two pucks and that the distance each puck to the driver can be reached with the included 8.2-feet of cable, otherwise you can add an 8.2-foot power extension cable to the order.
Can I change the intensity of the lighting on my rendering? The lighting intensity can be changed to make any of the four zones lighter or darker (simulating a dimming effect) so that you get the desired result. To change the lighting intensity (after lights have been added) you will need to access Global Attributes by selecting (left-click) the icon or by right-clicking on a blank area of the Floor Plan and selecting (left-click) Global Attributes from the menu. Select (left-click) on the Sensio catalog on the left to see the global option for this catalog. On the right hand side, you will see the default intensity settings for each of the 4 zones. To change the default intensity settings, select (left-click) on the drop down arrow for the zone that you want to change. The following shows a kitchen with the default lighting intensity next to the same design with the lighting intensity modified.
