    Join Ursula Burns, former Xerox CEO and Chairwoman, and Laura Huang, HBS professor, as they discuss the current social climate and the role that companies and employees need to play to promote equality and greater representation in corporate America. Ursula joined Xerox as an intern in 1980 and rose through the ranks to become President in 2007. From 2010 to 2016, she served as Xerox CEO, managing to turn a company once only known for paper copies into a viable and profitable business. Under Ursula’s successful leadership, Xerox transformed into one of the world’s most diversified business services companies. Burns is the first African-American woman to lead an S&P 500 company. Ursula was named chairwoman of VEON in 2017, just as the international telecom expanded offerings to its more than 240 million customers to compete as a global online company. She was appointed by President Barack Obama to lead the White House national STEM program from 2009 – 2016 and served as Chair of the President’s Export Council during from 2015 to 2016. Ursula regularly appears on the Fortune’s and Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful women and serves on the Board Directors of Exxon Mobil, Nestle, and Uber. Ursula also provides leadership counsel to several community, educational and non-profit organizations including: The Ford Foundation, the MIT Corporation, Cornell’s Tech Board of Overseers, The New York City Ballet, the Mayo Clinic, among others. Laura Huang is an associate professor of business administration at the Harvard School of Business. Prior to joining HBS, she was an assistant professor of management at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Laura’s

    research examines early-stage entrepreneurship and the role of interpersonal relationships and implicit factors in the investment decisions of financiers such as angel investors and VCs. Her work studies the subtle signals and cues that often impact the behavioral perceptions of investors, which can lead to implicit bias in the investing process. Her research has been featured in the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, and Nature. Laura has won a number of awards for her research, and was named one of the 40 Best Business School Professors Under the Age of 40 by Poets & Quants. In her book “Edge: Turning Adversity into Advantage” Laura shows that success is about gaining an edge: that elusive quality that gives you an upper hand and attracts attention and support. Some people seem to naturally have it. Laura teaches how to create our own edge from the challenges and biases we think hold us back and turn them to work in our favor.
