ProductOverviewDesignyourstairswithflexibilityandfreedominthemodelratherthaninadialogbox.
Arangeofindividualcomponentsallowhighlyflexiblestairconfigurationsandaccommodateforbothresidentialandcommercialstyles.Railingscanbelinkedtostairsorslabs,ormaybeplacedstandalonesothatstairseasilywindatvariedwidthsandheightsandopenontolandings.Stairassembliescanbeedited,labelledandoutputasiftheywereasingleobject.
ModelaStraightFlightStairInthistutorialwewillcreatea1000mmwide,straight,timberstairwitha1200mmlonglandinghalfwayup.FirstselectthePolystairToolfromtheToolBox.
NOTE:IfthePolystairtooldoesnotappearintheToolBox,youwillhavetoaddit.ThisprocessisoutlinedintheInstallationExtrasarticle.BeforemakinganychangestotheStairgeometry,withintheFloorPlanandSectiontabmakesuretheFloorPlanDisplayissettoShowonHomeStoryandoneStoryup.Thismeanswhenwegouptothestoryabove,thestairwillstillshow.
NowgototheCadimageStairComponentSettingstab,andwithinDimensionssettheStairWidthto1000,andsettheTotalRiseheightto2700.NOTE:SettingtheRiseheightisnotessentialasitcanbeadjusteddymanicallyin3Dlatteron.

WithinStructureselecttheStructureimageandchangeittoTimberStringers,thenselecttheStringerimageandchangeittoSquare.
WithinTreads&RiserschangetheRisertypetoAngledRisers,thensettheGoingto300mm,Ihaveschosentolockthegoingdimensionsothatitisconsistentformyentirestairdothisbyclickingonthelockiconandchangeitfromanopenlocktoalockedlock.
ClickOK,thenwithinyourPlanView(youcouldbein3Dalso)clickthestartpointofyourstair,thePloystairPetPaletewillpopup,formthischooseyourflighttype,whichisstraightflight.Moveyourcursorinthedirectionyouwishthestairtogo,i.e.totheright,andtype2000intothetrackerandhitEnter.

Yournextstaircomponentisalanding,sofromthePetPalettechoosestraightlanding,andintothetrackertype1200,thenEnter.
NextaddanotherpieceofstairbychoosingstraightflightfromthePerPalette,thentype2000intothetrackerandhitEnter.Tofinishthestair,clickonthenodeattheendofthestair.
Noticethatyounowhaveinfoboxesforeachflightcomponenttellingyouthegoingandtheriserheight.193mmistoohighforourrisers.
Tochangethis,selectthetopflight(youcouldalsoselectthebottomflight),choosethepinkhotspotattheendofthestair,anddragittotheright.Asyoudragyourmouse,noticethatanewriseris'hinted'tobeplacedevery300mm.(thisisbecause

welockedourgoingto300mm).Moveyoumousetotherightsothatjustoneextrariserwillbeplaced.
Nowtheriserheighthaschangedto180mmforallplacedflights.
Thestaircanbeviewedin3D.
Ifyouarehappywiththestair,youneedtoassembleit.Thisbasicallyconvertsthevariouscomponentsintoasingleobject,meaningifyouhavemanystairsplaced,theydonotslowdownyourviews.Toassembleyourstair,selectapieceofit(youdonotneedtoselectallthecomponents)andgotoCadimage>Stairs>AssembleStair.

InPlanViewyouwillseeabreaklineappear,thiscanbeselectedviathepinkhotspotatitscentreanddraggedalongtothelanding.
