If You Think You Can…You Will !
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win but think you can't,
it’s almost certain you won't.
Life's battles don't always go
to the stronger or faster,
but sooner or later, the one who wins
is the one who thinks;… I can.

♥ Intellectual intimacy:This isn't about discussing highly
intellectual ideas. The important thing isdiscussing your thoughts. They may be
thoughts about food, finances, health, crime, work, politics, etc. They revealsomething of what's gone on in your mindthroughout the day.
♥ Social intimacy:This has to do with spending time around
the events of life. Some of these eventswe experience together; others happenwhile we're apart and are shared throughopen communication. Much of life involves
doing. When we do things together, wenot only develop a sense of teamwork, wealso enhance our sense of intimacy.
♥ Emotional intimacy:Feelings are our spontaneous, emotional
responses to what we encounter throughthe five senses. I see the fire truck racing
down the road and I feel troubled. Youtouch my hand and I feel loved. When weshare emotions, we build emotional
intimacy.
♥ Spiritual intimacy:Often the least excavated of all thefoundations of marital intimacy, yet thishas a significant impact on the others. It
doesn't require agreement of belief onevery detail. Instead, we seek to tell eachother what's going on in our inner self. It's discussing our thoughts about spiritual
realities. The purpose isn't agreement, butunderstanding.
♥ Physical intimacy:Because men and women are different(long live their differences!), we oftencome at sexual intimacy in different ways. The husband's emphasis is often on the
physical aspects—the seeing, touching, and climax are the focus of his attention. The wife, though, comes to sexual
intimacy with more interest in therelationship. To feel loved, appreciated, and treated tenderly brings her great joy.
Sexual intimacy requires understandingand responding to these differences.
An essential ingredient of intimacy isallowing your spouse to be
him/herself without striving toconform him/her to your ideals.
In intimacy, we try to grow closer
together, not to eliminate the"otherness," but to enjoy it. Men and
women are different and we mustnot, even with good intentions, seekto destroy those differences.
What keeps us from experiencingintimacy? All of us are egocentric; theworld revolves around us. Yet, when
we focus on self, we lose intimacy.
The opposite of self-centeredness,then, is love. Love concentrates onthe well-being of the spouse. We take
time to listen to the thoughts, feelings, and desires of our spouse. We seek to understand and to
respond with empathy. We choose todo things with each other, eventhings that may not be our favorite
activities, simply because we want tobe with each other.
In the context of such intimacy we
become supportive and caring of eachother, which builds a stronger, morecontented marriage.

Compose your own poem, borrow averse from Song of Songs, or just write "I loveyou."6.Turn on the charm.Who says you have tostop flirting once you're married? At yournext party, wink at him across a crowdedroom, or slip your arm around her as youmake social small talk. 8.Remember the little things. When youstep in to help with the day-to-day "drudge"chores—making dinner, bathing the kids—your spouse knows she's appreciated andloved. And completing a chore for yoursweetie frees more time and energy for thetwo of you to enjoy other activities together.9.Send it snail mail. I quit my job, my relationship, my
spirituality... I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?" His answer
surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of
them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the
earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the
bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern
grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo
seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo." He said.
"In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would
not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo see. I would not
quit." He said.
"Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to
the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant...But just 6 months later
the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing
roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive. I
would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle."
He said to me.
"Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you
have actually been growing roots?"
"I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."
"Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different
purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful."
"Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high"
"How high should I rise?" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.
"As high as it can?" I questioned,
"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and bring back this story. I hope these words can help
you see that God will never give up on you.
HE will never give up on you!
