Wind Energy HarvestingThe WIND

Wind is caused by differences in pressure. When a difference in pressure exists, the air is accelerated from higher to lower pressure. This creates kinetic energy in the atmosphere that is essential in harvesting power from the wind.

The Goal

Kinetic Energy Electrical Energyfrom Wind To power different

appliances, light, etc…

Wind Energy Harvesting

Group Wind Turbine Design

Using the fan from an aircon, the group was able to construct a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) that turns as wind is directed towards the fan.

Wind Energy Harvesting

Impact to Society1. Rural areas may easily access electricity through the use of wind turbines

2. Additional source of energy to suffice the increasing demand of electricity3. Contribute to a “greener” planet4. Maximization of the potential of mother nature
