Hughes Health & Rehabilitation’s Lina Dureza Honored With the 2017 Public Service
Award From the Connecticut Nurses Association: Lina Dureza, pictured at right,
director of nursing services at Hughes Health & Rehabilitation, received the 2017 Public
Service Award from Stephanie Knutson, president of the Connecticut Nurses
Association at CNA’s recent Diamond Jubilee and Awards Reception. The award,
according to CNA, “is given to an individual who has made notable contributions to the
advancement of nursing, public health or health care in Connecticut through public
service, public education/advocacy, public policy or organizational leadership.” In his
remarks introducing Lina, Hughes’s Vice President Mark Finkelstein said, “Lina
Dureza’s work ethic, her commitment to excellence, and her outstanding leadership
abilities have distinguished her as an exemplary nurse manager and education leader.”
Staff and friends of Athena Health Care Systems gathered this past Wednesday at
Evergreen Health Care Center in Stafford Springs, CT to celebrate a facility Open
House. Congratulations to the residents, staff and friends of Evergreen Health Care
Center!

CAHCF - Best Practices
Best Practices 2 on November 3rd is SOLD OUT at this time. Room still available
for Best Practices 3 and 4.
This four-part series will be devoted to assisting providers in understanding and
implementing the new Final Rule Phase 1 and 2 which is scheduled to take effect on
November 28, 2017!
This in-depth review will include analysis and implementation tips from the recently
revised Interpretive Guidance, as well as anticipated guidance on the facility
assessments and other aspect of Phase 2.

CT ACHCA - Survey Process and Phase 2 Implementation of
the Final Rule with CT DPH
The Connecticut Chapter of the American
College of Health Care Administrators is pleased to announce a seminar entitled,
"Survey Process and Phase 2 Implementation of the Final Rule; DEA Updates;
MORE" to be presented on Tuesday, October 31st at Zandri's Stillwood Inn in
Wallingford, CT. The Program will begin at 9:00 AM (Registration opens at 8:30 AM)
and will conclude at 3:00 PM.
Our Presenters will be Barbara Cass, RN, Section Chief, Facility Licensing and
Investigation Section, State CT DPH and others; Anthony M. Bruno, Building
