Organised by Silovoglio Events, the second Cake Design Italian Festival took place on 26th and 27th May at the Sheraton Hotel in Milan Malpensa Airport. Over 9,000 visitors came to learn the secrets of British cake decorating, take part in activities and see demonstrations.

The award for the best entry in the ‘I wanna be a cake designer’ competition among amateur cake designers was won by Ivana Guddo from Sicily. There was also a live race between five competitors from all over Italy to complete a cake in one day which was won by Amerilde, a cake designer from Puglia. Another very popular competition was dedicated

to the wedding cakes, sponsored by Letizia Grella and Domo Adami: here the style and class of Beatrice Mao’s creation crushed the competition.

The Squires Kitchen stand was run by our Spanish and Portuguese Business Manager, Meri Ruiz, who was accompanied by our talented demonstrators, Susan Griffiths, Ceri DD Griffiths and Carlos Lischetti, who demonstrated to a large audience. The Squires Kitchen stand proved to be a popular attraction, drawing crowds of enthusiastic sugarcrafters. Cake decorating is becoming bigger and bigger in Italy and Squires Kitchen was proud to be part of it.

Look out for information on the third Cake Design Italian Festival, to be held in October 2013, in future issues of Cakes & Sugarcraft magazine.
