Vendome Group, publishers of Long-Term
Living and HEALTHCARE DESIGN
magazines, the Society for the Advancement
of Gerontological Environments (SAGE), The
Center for Health Design (CHD), and The
International Association of Interior Designers
(IIDA) will be reviewing projects from across
the nation and selecting those that address
design issues and trends related to the needs
of the entire aging population – from nursing
home residents to active seniors. Some
projects will be honored with a Citation of Merit
award, presented at our annual Environments
for Aging conference.
Submit your latest project for consideration in
this year-round signature issue reaching more
than 25,000 industry professionals, including
Owners, Presidents, C-level and Regional
Executives, Architects and Designers, and
select members of key industry associations.

Acceptance of Projects
Projects will be recognized for solving the market-specific constraints of:
• Creating environments for the aging, such as marketability, budget, density, programs;
• Meeting psychological, social, physical, and economic needs of the targeted population;
• Incorporating technology into the built environment that improves users’ health and safety and
enhances functionality;
• Overcoming regulatory obstacles via innovation and collaboration with regulators; and
• Exemplifying ways that design elements can link the environment for the aging with the larger
community.
Who is qualified to submit a project? Architects, interior designers, landscape architects or designers,
builders, developers, and facility owners/operators in the senior
or long-term care market.
How recently must this project have been
completed? All projects must have been completed between January 2010
and March 2013, except projects in progress or
unbuilt/conceptual designs. Projects that have been published
previously cannot be resubmitted under the same
Building/Construction category (see below for a list of these
categories). For example, if your “Project in Progress” was
previously published, you may resubmit under “New
Construction” once it is completed; however, you cannot
resubmit the same project as a “Project in Progress.”
Awards and Recognition A jury of experts appointed by our partner organizations will
review all projects and determine project acceptance. Submitting
a project does not guarantee acceptance. Some projects will
receive a Citation of Merit based on the overall project, while
others may receive honorable mention for specific project results
