What is GROW 2020?
“They shall be revived . . . and GROW like a vine.” --- Hosea 14:7
On February 1, 2020 we launched GROW 2020. In talking and praying with our church finance committee we
realized, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, that we needed a revival in our church. It is easy to become
complacent, which can lead to stagnation, which can lead to lifelessness. We needed a sense of urgency to
reach our neighbors and the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We needed to be better stewards of
the gifts the Lord has blessed us with, and re-emphasize the importance of giving to Kingdom work -- our time,
our talents and our money.
At our fellowship on the 1st we talked how different words can spell out GROW -- for instance
G --- Godliness, Generosity, Going, . . .
R --- Revival, Reaching, Responding, . . .
O --- Open, Ongoing, Onward, . . .
W --- Witness, Working, Watchful, . . .
“Is GROW 2020 just another program?” -- I hope not. I pray that it is a way of life. I pray that we will always
be seeking to “GROW in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18) I pray that we will
long to see and strive with all of our energy to see the Kingdom of God advancing -- in Monroeton and
throughout the world.
“Am I supposed to give something?” -- There is nothing to mark your offering envelope or check about here;
it’s not a special building project or anything like that. It is a commitment between you and the Lord, that you
will seek to live in a way that honors Him in all that you do. It is a commitment that we will support the work
of the Lord through this, His church. It is a commitment that you will be the disciple that He wants you to be;
that we will be about His business.
“What can I do?” -- here’s a few ideas . . . .
● Read and meditate on Scripture -- daily
● Pray regularly for others and your church
● Witness for Jesus Christ ---- who’s my ONE?
● Give faithfully to the Lord’s work - my time, talents and treasure
● Invite a friend and come with them to church
● Disciple a friend - study Scripture together, share a good Christian book, pray with
Will you make a commitment to GROW in 2020?
