SITEWe chose the Kreielsheimer North Meadow because it is the sitewithin the Olympic Sculpture Park that is furthest removed from anynoise caused by traffic. Our building will be a home and work spacefor music composers so reducing exterior noise is essential to thecreative endeavours of our occupants.

The synthesis of existing elements." "
PARTI
Our parti is based on the idea of two or more elements comingtogether to create something new. The form of our building iscreated by four individual elements coming together to createa single unified form. This form emulates the shape of a doublehelix, the structure upon which DNA is built and synthesised, allowing for the creation of new life.

PROGRAM
PUBLIC SEMI PRIVATE PRIVATE
A comfortable environment that synthesises flexible workspacewith social areas in order to integrate and inspires music lovers andcomposers into one interactive form.
The studios are situated in the only completelyunderground part of the building.
The dining facility and the dialogue area provide the composers witha more private area to converse and eat in the building. These spacesare away from the public and allow the composers to relax.
A crucial element of composition wouldbe to have soundproofed environment
-Sebastian Laskowski
"
The dorm rooms are also private, but are adjacent to the multi purposearea of the dinning area and public dialogue space.

SPACE
“ We move through negative spaces
and dwell in positive spaces ”
Matthew Frederick
Our positive spaces include the walk-on cantilever, the public displayarea, the private dining and dialogue space and the terrace next tothe cafe.
The negative spaces are primarily the hallways and the private individualstudio spaces which do not afford areas for seating or socializing.

CONCLUSION
Overall our building’s parti, “the synthesis of existing elements” isincorporated not only into the overall form and function of thestructure but also into the program itself. Private, semi-private, andpublic spaces connect and diverge throughout the building as theprogram reflects our box of values of comfort, flexibility, andinspiration in order to best address the needs of the composersand the public.
