AQUATIC FACILITY CLOSINGSeafari Springs Aquatic Center will be closed atthe Athletic & Aquatic Supervisor’s discretionbased on the air temperature being 68 degreesor below, low attendance (fewer than 25 people),mechanical failure or inclement weather. Thefacility may reopen if conditions improve. Refundswill not be issued if the pool is closed for the day.

ELLIS & ASSOCIATESLIFEGUARD TRAININGHanover Park Park District lifeguards havecompleted water safety training and testingconducted by Ellis & Associates. Ellis &Associates is recognized as the leader in aquaticrisk management and lifeguard training. Eachlifeguard must pass the 20 hour InternationalLifeguard Training Program that includes FirstAid/CPR/AED and water rescue skills. In addition,all lifeguards are required to complete a minimumof 4 hours of in service each month. Ellis &Associates conducts surprise audits to review thefacility and staff performance throughout the summer.

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT& VOLUNTEERSLooking for your first job? Apply to work at theSeafari Springs Aquatic Center as a lifeguard,swim lesson instructor or concession staff.Each position has different requirements andresponsibilities. Positions are available toindividuals 16 years of age and older. Pick upan application and job description at theCommunity Center registration desk.

Our Jungle Shack slide is especiallydesigned for small visitors. Water geysers shootup to 6 feet of water. Have an ElephantShower, too!

AQUA BLOOMThis feature has a large colorful flower bloom atthe top. It has a series of nozzles in a uniqueformation around the column creating an amazingspiral curtain. A secondary jet shoots water fromthe center of the flower.

1. Pool pass holders from summer 2009, orCentre Court members, who have retainedtheir photo ID cards will not need new cardsfor 2010. These cards will automatically beupdated upon renewal of the current year’sseason pass. There is a $5.00 charge toreplace a lost or stolen photo ID card issuedfrom 2009.

2. For all new pool pass sales, each familymember will need a photo taken at the time ofregistration. All family members should s ignup for pool passes at the same t ime.

3. Have proof of Hanover Park ParkDistrict residency ready when you come toregister for your pool pass. A current driver’slicense AND a current utility bill that shows yourname and address will be needed to confirmresidency. If you are unsure about yourresidency status in the HPPD, please call us at630-837-2468 to avoid any confusion prior toregistration.

4. Payment may be made with cash, check,VISA, MasterCard or Discover.

5. Families with over 5 members will requirebirth certificates for all children 23 years andunder to be included on the pass. A family isdefined as parent(s) and any unmarried childrenwho are between the ages of 3 and 23 who areliving at home and grandparents who live at thesame address (proof of residency is required).Children who are 24 and older or any otherrelatives/individuals in the same householdwill not be included in the family pass. Childrenage 2 and under will not require a pass.Children turning 3 before July 1 will be chargedas a family member. It may be necessary for ourCustomer Service staff to request a birth certifi-cate for proof of age.

6. No refunds will be issued for SeafariSprings pool passes.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICYThe Hanover Park Park District swim lesson pro-gram includes out-of-water instruction and teach-es safety awareness. If there are questionable airor water temperatures/conditions, classes maystill be held out-of-water. Classes will be can-celled only in the case of severe weather. Thedecision to cancel class will be made before thestart of each swim lesson. Because of the largenumber of participants and unpredictable sum-mer weather, we cannot contact everyone incase of cancellation. See the “Learn To SwimParent Manual” for cancellation procedures.

LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAMThe Hanover Park Park District’s Learn To Swim Program offers swimming instruction for people ofall ages and abilities. Several sessions of swim lessons are available throughout the summer. Raindates are reserved for make-up classes due to inclement weather. The “Learn To Swim Parent Manual”is available at registration, the first day of lessons and on the Park District website atwww.hpparks.org. Participants 5 years & older will be tested the first day of class and placed in theSeahorse through Sharks levels. Due to limited space surrounding the pool site parents and otherspectators are permitted to wait on the deck area under the Funbrellas or the Oasis concessionarea. Advance registration is recommended to ensure choice of class times for the entire summer.Registration will not be accepted after the registration deadline to ensure low ratios, quality lessonsand instructor availability. The park district reserves the right to combine class levels if deemed appropriate.

Do you feel that you or your child needs more individualized attention than available in group swimor dive lessons? Half-hour lessons are available at Seafari Springs from the instructors during theirnon-scheduled times. Instructors can be assigned or the participant can select a favorite instructor.Lessons are generally available at any time. Each half-hour lesson costs $30 ($45 nr). For additionalinformation or to setup a lesson, call our swim lesson coordinator at (630) 837-2468 ext. 200.

Learn the skills necessary to be a professional lifeguard withthe Hanover Park Park District’s Junior Lifeguard program. Participants will learn and practice thesame skills as the Seafari Springs lifeguard staff. All participants must be able to swim one length ofthe pool at 25 yards. (12 classes)

Program fee includes Junior Lifeguard t-shirt, whistle and lanyard and a completion certificate.

SWIM CAMPThis will be a great opportunity to improve swimming skills for the beginner, novice and team swimmer.Join our instructors and work on stroke development, put some polish on your flip turn or just enjoythe water. Each swimmer will work to improve their skills at their own level. Activities will includeconditioning and skills training, individual instruction on specific weaknesses, and fun activitiesincluding games, dive well and water slides. Swimmers will be broken down into groups by age andability level to best facilitate learning. Each swimmer should bring a healthy snack for that mid-morning energy pick-up. (1 week)

AQUATIC FACILITY RENTALSInterested in having your very own aquatic park for a few hours? Seafari Springs Aquatic Center is

available for rent for those swim enthusiasts! Aquatic facilities are an ideal place for company picnics,

church outings, school parties, birthday parties and all groups. Rates include use of the entire facility.

The Park District reserves the right to allow more than one group to rent at one time. Rental times

are available between Saturday, June 5 and Sunday August 22, 2010 after regular hours. Some

weekend mornings are available!

2010 camp & aquaticsGeneral InformationCamps are 1 week sessions, unless otherwise noted.

Each session participants will go on anexciting field trip.

Swim time will be part of each of the full-day camps.

A theme calendar and Camp T-shirt will be senthome the first day.

Emergency form must be returned to staff onthe first day of Camp.

Campers must bring sunblock, lunch, snack,and a water bottle.

Ratio of counselors to campers equal 1:10.

Camp StaffCamp staff are hired for their enthusiastic, fun,and creative personalities.

All staff attend training programs prior to Camp.

Mandatory background checks for all staffand drivers.

Supervisors are mature and responsible adults.

Counselors are 16 years and older.

All staff are CPR/AED and First Aid certified.

Camp Open HouseMEET THE STAFF! Staff will be available intheir camp rooms to answer any questions fromparents and campers. Staff will discuss specif-ic camp curriculum, camp policies, age ranges,procedures and field trips at your camp site.Campers will become more comfortable withtheir new surroundings and will get a jump starton their summer camp experience.

Camp RegistrationInformation Parents must register in person for all Campprograms. Parents will receive a “Summer DayCamp Parent Manual” and emergency form atthe time of registration.

The registration deadline is one week prior tothe camp’s start date. Those who register afterthe deadline may not be able to attend until staffand bus service are secured.

A payment plan is available to all 5 day sessionCamp registrants! A $25 down payment perchild, per 5-day Camp session is required at thetime of registration to reserve a place in theCamp program. Payment must be made at thePark District office with the balance paid in fullby the Wednesday preceding each Camp session.If not paid in full by the required date, thedeposit will be forfeited, the child will bedropped from the Camp session and their spotwill not be held. The payment plan option is forDay Camp only and may not be used for BusService, Extended Care or other Camp programs.

Full Camp session fees are required. Pro-ratingis not available.

Requests for transfers must be made in person,in writing at the Park District office. Transfersrequested after the session’s start date are subjectto the approval of the Recreation ServicesSupervisor. A $10.00 transfer fee will beapplied to all transfers and must be paid prior tothe transfer being processed. If the transferrequires a refund to be issued, a refund fee of$10.00 will also be applied.

Cancellation and refund requests must bemade in person, in writing, at the Park Districtoffice and are subject to a $10.00 fee per program.NO REFUNDS will be granted after the 2nd dayof Camp with the exception of a written medicalexcuse with the refund based on the proratedcost and the refund fee applied.

If you have not already done so, you will be asked tocomplete a Family Information Form. REGISTRATION INFORMATION1. Review all registration, transfer and refund information.Fill out registration form completely.2. Payment must accompany registration. Fax or phone-inregistration must be accompanied by a Visa, Discover orMastercard. Make check or money order payable to theHanover Park Park District.3. Members of households with a delinquent outstandingbalance shall not be allowed to register for park districtprograms or facilities until said balance is paid in full.RESIDENTS AND NON RESIDENT RATES A “resident” isdefined as anyone living within the geographical boundaries ofthe Hanover Park Park District. Residents in Hanover ParkPark District have priority for limited programs. You may berequired to pay the non-resident fee even though you live inHanover Park because the boundaries of the village are notthe same as the boundaries of the Park District. Non-residents may register for programs for a fee that is 50%percent higher than the resident fee or $15 over theresident fee, whichever is the smaller amount.TRANSFERS Requests must be made in person. A $5 feewill apply for most transfers. A $10 fee will apply forPreschool, Before/After School Club and Camp.REFUND POLICY Refunds will not be granted for class(es)missed or forgotten. All requests for refunds must besubmitted in writing. Forms for refunds are available at thePark District office. Refunds requested for a program priorto the start of a class will be assessed a $5 fee. A requestfor a refund after the program begins, but prior to the 2ndmeeting, will also be assessed an additional prorated feebased upon the per class cost. NO refunds will be grantedafter the 2nd class with the exception of a written medicalexcuse with the fee based on the prorated cost per classand the normal service fee. Refunds for trips will not begiven unless the trip is canceled by the Park District or areplacement is found to take the trip. A $10 refund feeapplies for Preschool, Before/After School Club programsand camp.FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The Youth Activity SupplementProgram (Y.A.P.), sponsored by the Village of Hanover Parkoffers residents who experience undue hardship, an opportunityto enroll their children in recreation programs. For moreinformation call Gina Mastro-Strickler at (630) 837-2468(ext. 121).ACCESSIBILITY The Hanover Park Park District, CentreCourt Athletic Club and all other facilities are accessibleand comply with A.D.A. standards. The elevator in theCommunity Center is accessible from all three levels and isavailable for public use.PROGRAM CODE OF CONDUCT To ensure enjoyableand safe programs for all participants, the Hanover ParkPark District has developed a behavior code.
