1. What are the expectations that you have for this weekend?

2. What is one thing that you as a man have struggled with this past year?

3. Choose one thing you want to change in your life?

Camp Weight-In

Mini-Camp

Camp Scripture

Finally, Brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is

pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable…if there is any moral excellence

and if there is any praise…dwell on these things!

Philippians 4:8

5

God is so cool.  We are a backsliding bunch, and we keep doing things that we know are wrong... lose our tempers, judge other people…stray from our families!

Seriously, we make mistakes all the time, and have a tendency to give up on ourselves, and wonder if God is going to give up on us as well... but he never never will.

He looks at our history of disobedience just as he looked at the history of the Israelites right before this scripture... and he says…Okay..you messed up.

Let's start again.  I'll wipe the slate clean... please, please come back... I love you…and he does…more than anyone can possibly love us on the earth, and He knows us better than anyone else can know us.

He knows, in fact, that underneath all the sin, all the disobedience, and all the resistance…there is a man in training…someone with the capacity to be like He is, to guide and love and give the way that He does.

Just as he told the woman taken in adultery... neither do I condemn thee... go, and sin no more... he says the same thing to us.

Come Home!!

6

He knows that we aren't going to be perfect... that's why we have the sacrament, so that we can renew the remission of our sins… And He knows that He might have to wipe the slate clean more than once.

*Every time we repent, with sincerity, and with a desire to do better…He forgives us.  That is the gift that Christ gave us, who suffered for all our mistakes, for all of our evil choices…so that we don't have to suffer for them.

All we have to do is turn around, face the right direction…and no matter how bad it was, how deep the wounds, how complicated the circumstances…He pulls us out of the pit that we have dug for ourselves, takes away the eternal consequences of our sin, and sets us back on level ground to try again.

He is our Father... he wants us to come home!7

1 God Loves You!The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only

Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life"

The problem is that . . .

2 All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This

is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God.

The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever.

The Bible says “The wages of sin is death.”

The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago,

8

3 God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.

Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. “God demonstrates His own love for us in

that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”

Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with Him in

heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me."

God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even

to those who believe on His name."

4 If you want to accept Christ as your Savior and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Savior and

Lord by praying a prayer like this:"Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life.I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to

serve you always."

Have you prayed this prayer?

At one time or another all great leaders experience something

so big and so impactful it literally changes the landscape

– it’s what I call a “Game Changer.” A game changer is that ah-ha moment where you see something others don’t.

It’s the transformational magic that takes organizations, churches…families from ordinary to exceptional.

WE NEED GAME CHANGERS!10

Practice Session One

Abraham – “Greater Purpose”•Received the original covenant, “In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed”.

•Early Christians traced their history back to Abraham. Role is critical in the development of biblical history.

•God called Abraham “out of” his country, his family, and his father’s house. This “calling out” is significant. Our common word for ‘church’ is from a Greek word, meaning “called out ones.”

•TODAY the church is comprised of people who have been “called out.”

12

What we learn from Abraham…

• Do you believe that you have been “called out”?

• What do you plan to do about it?

• What is your Greater Purpose?

A promise that Christ made for us is to have _______________.

The trouble is that the world says happiness = _________

VS the condition of the heart and soul.

An_____________ is not a life with lots of _______ it is a life full of abundant

peace and _______!

Game Changers play and live with abundant life!

“Abundant”

18

“Abundant”

John 10:1-10

No Shortcuts!   10:1   10 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.

• One way to new life ... only through Christ!

•  Thieves and robbers!

•  We live in a world that loves "shortcuts" to everything ... anything that makes things easier or free!

•  People want abundance but without responsibilities!

19

2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”

“Abundant”

21

7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[a] They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have ABUNDANT life, and have it to the full.

“Abundant”

22

•Are you a taker or a giver?

•Whose voice do you hear…the thief or the shepherd?

•Do you enter through the gate?

•What are the shortcuts you need to ELIMINATE?

Paul…“Committed”

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Definition of hum·ble:

1. Marked by ___________ or modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit; not __________ or _________.

2. Showing ___________:

3. Showing that you do not think of yourself as better than ____________.

Humble

54

“Now the man Moses was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.” (Numbers 12:3)

Moses…”Humble”

We see proof of this almost as soon as Moses is called to a position of leadership. Responding to God’s charge to free the Israelites from slavery, Moses’ asserts, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and free the Israelites.”

These words reveal that Moses – despite his Palace upbringing, did not see himself as extraordinary or better than others.

55

Moses…“Humble”

Another example of Moses’ humility. The text describes Moses, descending from Mt. Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant.

Moses’ face, was radiant – glowing as a result of his encounter with the divine. The glowing face of Moses is a familiar image, captured time and again in artistic renderings of this biblical scene. But what might come as a surprise are the words that precede the Torah’s description of Moses’ face –and “Moses didn’t know.”

Moses was unaware that his face glowed! But how is this possible?

A commentator suggests, “Moses was unaware of it because coming down the mountain he was holding the two tablets, and presumed that the light beamed not from him but from them – the light of the Torah.” In short, Moses was too humble to think that he was the source of the divine light.

56

What gets in the way of your humility?

How do you demonstrate humility with your friends and family?

Are you coachable? How do you respond to adjustments?

Be The GAME-CHANGER!

Adaptable

As situations and conditions change, we must adapt accordingly.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under

the Heaven.Being adaptable = living above circumstances and conditions.

Philippians 4:11-13 I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in

whatever circumstances I am.  I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In

any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or

hungry, whether in abundance or in need.  I am able to do all things through Him who

strengthens me. 68

Notable

10 When Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he went into his house. The windows in its upper room opened toward Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees, prayed, and gave thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

Daniel 6:10

Prov 25:26

"Like a muddied spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked."

Grounded… 2 Timothy 2:14-21

A Worker Approved by God

14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers.

15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness, 17 and their talk will spread like gangrene.

19 But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”

85

Grounded

20 Now in a great house (strong tower) there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable.

21 Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

86

Grounded

22 So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

23 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels.

24 And the Lord's servant[ must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness.

87

1. What are you grounded in?

2. Do your actions reflect what you believe?

3. What do you need to do to ensure that you stay grounded?

Enthusiasm

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Relentless Pursuit

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
