The times for fireplaces and warm winter coats have come to an end. Windows are being opened for drafts and people

everywhere are breaking out their dusters. Spring cleaning is a must during this time to get things organized and clutter free. This

applies to computers as well! During the winter pets build up additional fur, dust may accumulate on your desks and dirt builds up on

your carpet. During spring time, the pets shed their winter fur and the cleaning cycle begins, blowing dust and dirt throughout the

house. These hazards for computers get sucked into the fans and block important cooling system operations. Overheating computers

can fry your video cards, overheat your power supplies, and in some cases, cause a meltdown your entire motherboard. This is

avoidable by purchasing a can of compressed air and following a few simple steps to blow out your computer. Save yourself the

hassle of a broken PC!

Unplug your computer and take it to a well ventilated area.

Open the device (typically by removing the side panel) and put on eye protection.

Using the can of air, blow the components in short sweeping movements left to right, from top to bottom.

Be sure to hit major areas such as: front, back, or side fans; video card fans, and your CPU cooling fan.

Make sure that you are getting the dust, dirt and hair out of the areas, and not just packing them further inside these components.

Please be sure to follow all the safety precautions of both your PC as well as the can of compressed air. Failure to follow safety

precautions can cause damage to your computer, or more importantly, to yourself. By taking a little extra time, you can have a

cleaner and healthier PC, prepared to last another year. Personally, I clean out my desktops and laptops every few months, but

springtime is a great time to start!

If you have any questions or concerns, please

feel free to contact me.

If you are like most people, you don’t always have time to prepare a dish from scratch. You may need to grab

something quick from a fast food place or vending machine. These foods can be high in calories, especially the

unhealthy calories such as sugar and fat. Keep these tips in mind to make smarter choices:

FATS

Not all fat is bad. The trick is to balance fat calories with total calories. Look

for snacks that contain healthy fats such as nuts and seeds. Good sources of

healthy fats include, olive oil, avocados, seeds and nuts.

Aim for:

Less than 10% of calories from saturated fat

Less than 30% of calories from total fat

0% trans fat (hydrogenated fats)

SUGAR

Think to yourself, is this naturally sweet? Try to avoid a lot of refined sugars and artificial sweeteners. Natural

sweeteners are a healthier option, but still watch how many are in your diet. Natural sweeteners include honey,

agave syrup, and stevia.

MEATS & PROTEINS

Red – Limit to avoid: This category includes red meats such as beef, pork, and

lamb. It is best to limit these proteins in your meals and snacks.

White – Go for it: This category includes lean white meats such as skinless fish,

chicken, turkey, eggs, and low fat dairy.

Green – Go for it: This category contains vegetarian proteins. This includes

tofu, nuts, beans, lentils, and other meat alternatives.

SODIUM

Don’t add table salt to your meals and snacks. A low sodium food has less then 140mg per serving. Check the

nutrition label facts on packaged food for low sodium levels.

Mother Goose on the Loose is a thirty-minute nursery rhyme program for children

birth to age three. The program provides structure, repetition with variety, music

and body awareness, movement, animals, interactive rhymes and self-awareness.
