The best of Roehampton campus

World-class facilities

As a Glion London student, you will enjoy unrestricted access to all the campus facilities of our host, the University of Roehampton. With a history dating back over 175 years, the four Colleges of the University create a beautiful 54-acre parkland campus, with classic listed buildings alongside modern, cutting-edge facilities. The library, a popular destination for our students, houses 1,200 study spaces and hundreds of thousands of books and research materials across five floors and nearly 8,000 meters of shelving.

Downshire House: elegance and modernity

Built in the nineteenth century, and a luxurious private residence until the 1950s, the elegant Downshire House now provides a home to our London campus. The building was extensively refurbished in 2016, to create a modern learning environment in a historical setting. We take pride in delivering a premium, personalized education that will ensure you graduate ready to make a significant contribution to your industry. You will feel at home with a friendly group of passionate hospitality students and faculty members.

Hospitality conferences 120+ five-star hotels on our doorstep Personalized learning support

London hosts several hospitality conferences throughout the year: Sleep&Eat, HOSPA, World Travel Market London. It is a great opportunity for students to network and increase their industry knowledge. Some of these conferences are included within the curriculum, with students tasked to attend in order to collect data for an assignment.

You will have the opportunity to visit some of the most luxurious hotels, new and innovative concepts, as well as unique independent hotels. We work closely with The Lanesborough Hotel, The Hilton Garden Inn, The Bulgari Hotel, The Ritz, The InterContinental Hotel Group, The One Aldwych Hotel, The Nobu Hotel and more. Some real-life case studies will take place in selected hotels. For example, you could be tasked to research and present the operations of the organization, or analyze what represents service excellence in luxury hospitality by acting as a “mystery guest”.

At the beginning of each semester, you will have the opportunity to ask for additional learning support. You must provide evidence such as a medical report or an official learning difference diagnosis in English or French which is less than 10 years old. Your request will be reviewed by our Student Affairs Manager and Senior Learning Support Manager, who will confirm what additional support you are entitled to. The Academic Office will be notified and arrangements will be put in place for future exams. Please note, the type of support may vary between campuses.

Page 18: Campus exchange guide - Sommet Education Brand Portal

Who needs to apply for a visa for the UK?

The immigration requirements for the United Kingdom (UK) depend on your nationality and how long you wish to stay in the country.

Are you a:• UK national; or

• Irish national; or

• An individual who has permission to remain in the UK to study here already (for example: pre-settled status)

You can study at Glion in the UK without any formalities.

Do you wish to study in the UK for more than one semester?

Exception: important, please read

Some students spend semester 4 in the UK as a Standard Visitor, undertake their work placement in semester 5 outside of the UK and then decide that they wish to also spend semester 6 at the Glion London campus. This is possible if the semester 5 work placement is outside the UK and as long as the decision to spend semester 6 at the Glion London Campus is decided during semester 5 and not before.

The process will be the following:

• Complete a transfer form request for semester 4 > First Standard Visitor Visa.

• Leave the UK at the end of semester 4 and undertake your work placement elsewhere.

• Decide during semester 5 that you would like to spend semester 6 at the Glion London campus.

• Complete a transfer form request for semester 6 > Second Standard Visitor Visa.

Overview of the main immigration requirements

Below are the main requirements of the visa process which you should be aware of now. These will be provided to you in more detail once the visa process starts. Please note that the visa process only commences once you have completed the Admissions process and you have paid your school fees.

Please note when you book the test, the words “SELT” or “UKVI” must be stated on the English test. Otherwise it cannot be accepted.

For more information please consult the website below on the minimum grade requirement, where you can book your SELT and a list of the main providers in your country (you will find the addresses on the excel spreadsheet within the website below).

Medical requirements

You may require a TB Certificate (Tuberculosis Test) if you have spent the past 6 months in one of the countries listed on the UKVI website below.
