Raising pedigreed cattle is a lifestyle at Rendezvous Farms. It takes a passion for this particular kind of work. Breeding and marketing pedi-greed livestock is a far cry from the romantic image of cowboys on the range huddled around the campfire at grandmother’s farm with a red barn in the yard. For us at Rendezvous, it’s been a life’s work. Selective breeding of pedigreed livestock requires a whole lot of physical and mental effort, all directed towards the production of a more quality intense calf crop year after year. This is challenging year-round work regardless of sunlight, darkness, temperature or weather. It takes a lot of commitment and conviction to see our decisions through. Very much like surfing, develop-ing and leading a genetic-breeding operation requires plenty of strength and agility. It takes stamina to build the skills needed to roll with each wave. No magic beans here.Rendezvous Farms constantly renews and improves its own genetic livestock pool in order to grow and enhance its pedigreed herd, and move the program beyond what’s been done in the past. A favorite quote I like is this: “If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.”Our team here at Rendezvous have tried to put this particular quote into practice. How? We’ve moved our current purebred program forward by following a self-imposed rule of acquiring on an annual basis nothing less than the full ownership of new and higher quality male only genetics for our large all-papered herd of combined Red, Fullblood and Black Sim-mental females. For this co-owner of Rendezvous Farms, my bottom line boils down to this: valuable genetics greatly enables or enhances a cattleman’s success.Long ago, my father Laurent Maguet, founder of this organization in-stilled in us his cardinal rule of always taking herdbull buying seriously. Because of that, we’ve always stuck to a serious herdbull purchase gameplan no matter how many distractions came up and we have learned from mistakes made along the way. I would like to believe that Rendezvous Farms always acknowledged the bull buying challenges, yet we had the confidence and foresight to see the benefits that the end results would bring us.We are proud that we exclusively own all of our many pedigreed herd-sires. There are neither bull partnerships at Rendezvous or any usage of someone else’s A.I. bulls. We buy our own herdsires and then we use them heavily. Most of our active herdbulls are displayed on the back cover of this magazine. Today, our farming operation is principally managed by my two sons, David and Gerald. These young men take their work seriously. They have a forward-facing vision of where they want to take Rendezvous Farms. Their management style is remarkably positive, revolving around the future. They have learned to become comfortable assess-ing risk and never refusing to step out of their connection comfort zone to take the appropriate action for the good of Rendezvous Farms. There are many obstacles Gerald and David must confront. Their bal-anced strengths ensures that all angles are considered when dealing with challenging herd, grain or general farm issues. Ultimately, this leads to wiser decision-making and protects Rendezvous’ grain lands and cattle programs from going down the wrong path. At some point, my sons also have to trust their instincts and our combined intuition. Our Annual Bull Sale has grown in size and seriousness. I will not go into any specific details about our offering. Every year David prepares for you in this magazine his very own personal comments on every indi-vidual lot selling. Text or call David and Gerald to discuss any questions you may have. You will receive their candid analysis to help you keep your prospective selections in proper perspective. I can assure you it will be a constructive conversation because these young men know our sale offering very well and can be of assistance to anyone that asks for their advice, opinions or ideas. You still might not like the answer, but at

least you had the discussion and that’s information you can take in and decide what you want to do about it.Therefore, on this Holiday-Monday, Feb.15, Rendezvous Farms will fea-ture for you a spirited ‘animals in-the-ring’ public auction, offering you a combined 136 sons and daughters of Rendezvous genetics. As agriculture people, you can’t find any that operate as well as quality business people as the Maguet Families at Rendezvous Farms. Aside from operating one of the most outstanding Simmental herds in the nation, a large, well planned & expanding grain farm is also a big part of their agriculture contribution.

Whether it be cows or grain, a very methodical intent is always executed. To back up that statement relative to the Simmental herd, simply examine the high level of quality herdsires that have been very DEEPLY invested in to anchor an incredibly high quality, high volume annual bullpen. The clientele support has been continually growing provincially and now expanding past the Manitoba borders in recent years. Although always known as a quality Simmental herd, the more serious acquisitions of expensive herdsires, the professional business reputation of the Rendezvous team, and an increased effort of better promotional avenues has elevated Rendezvous Farms to an all new high level to their stature in the business world.

We have also started to really see the replacement quality heifers that are marketed annually through this sale, go on to perform in spades for their new owners. Prior to writing this editorial I have visited operations such as Clearwater Simmentals in Alberta who will have a sale season feature in their Bull Spectrum offering that is mothered by a female we purchased on their behalf from this very sale. I have also had a recent visit to Percyview Farms in Saskatchewan who have purchased multiple females from Rendezvous Farms and are very satisfied repeat customers.

As bull buying advice, we suggest you consider an early dated sale such as this, that is so deep in quality. The “norm” is lesser bulls tend to cost more later, the 2015 sale season was not an accurate occurrence. With the large sire groups at Rendezvous Farms, your selection will be in mul-tiples and your dollar will go further.

Please contact us at anytime to discuss Rendezvous Farms. We are always happy to appraise the program for you. If you are absolutely unable to attend, also feel free to call on us to handle your bidding requirements with our industry-leading, highly-trusted order-buying services.

See you in Ste. Rose,

Hummer 217U has turned out to be one heck of a breeding bull. His sons and daughters are the kind of cattle that are so right for the times. His sire is the $38,000 Wheatland Red Hum-mer 608S who was purchased by Double Bar D and Swan Lake. The dam is a tremendous R Plus Red Ribeye cow who goes back to LaBatte’s famed IPU Red Pocahontas 105L cow. The 105L cow is the dam of Robb Farms’ famed 71N cow that has made them big dollars in the last few years. Enough about pedigree and past accomplishments, the IPU Red Hummer 217U bull saw heavy service the last few breeding seasons after seeing how his first crop developed so well. What we really like about Hummer is his large, wide, square made quarters. When you walk behind him, one can’t help but be impressed with the pair of pants he boasts. His length & scale is another huge selling point. He has matured into an elite herdsire here at the farm and anchors our red program. Hummer’s calves are born easily and at two days of age, they are all the same -- low set and the widest topped babies on the place. Hummer raises the cowboy kind of bulls who will only make you money.

IPU Nero 274X has made a name for himself very quickly. The fact that he’s a Polled Fullblood meat machine may be part of the reason. We selected Nero at LaBatte’s in 2011, where he was our pick of the Fullblood bulls that year. A long, smooth made, easy fleshing bull, that’s low set and deep bodied. Nero is extremely well filled in the flank area and travels quite smoothly. Add all of the above plus a pedigree that’s second to none, and it’s no wonder that this bull is doing things right. Nero has taken our Fullblood program by storm, his sons averaged $9375 in our 2014 sale & $9083 in our 2015 sale. . This bull is definitely one of the very best Polled Fullblood bulls to walk in North America & has impressed all visitors at the farm. Buy with confidence in his progeny.

They say you should always be in the market for a good bull, even if you don’t need one at the time. This is exactly what happened with MFR Benjamin. Our friend Ben Wright had “bugged” us a few times about this “pretty damn good red bull” in Grenfell, SK. Sale day came around & we had enough bull power so why spend more money right…the phone rang that morning with Ben encouraging us to pursue this bull. Auctioneer Chris Poley was also quite high on this individual, therefore we followed the advice of these 2 young professionals. It turned out to be a great move; we were thoroughly impressed when Benjamin made his appearance to the ranch. We were even more impressed with the set of calves he sired on his first go around. His calves are deep, full in the flank, thick butted, performance style cattle. His bulls will be popular with the ranchers who want to produce pounds of beef. His daughters will no doubt be matriarchs in the making. To top it off, the pedigree on this guy is very unique. Homozygous Polled.

Seldom have we seen a bull with so much depth of body as what Trigger displays. A naturally easy keeping, fleshy type bull, we’ve worked him hard since we’ve owned him and yet every fall he’s in tip top condition. Trigger was the lead off and high selling bull at the Herdmaster’s 2012 Bull Sale where we purchased him for $26,000. Glen Maxwell stated that this was the best red bull they had raised and coming from Glen, we don’t take that lightly. Trigger’s style, thickness, flesh and body frame is what we’ve been looking for. Homozygous polled as well, we’ve had numerous offers from semen companies and individuals to purchase semen or shares in Trigger. We feel the best way to get a piece of the pie is by owning a direct son as they are developing into tremendous herdbull prospects.

The lead off & high selling Fullblood bull from Maxwell’s in 2014. Hemi’s length & super sound structure along with his rich color made him a natural fit for our breeding program. As a yearling we used him heavily & the results were even better than what we had anticipated! His sons are like peas in a pod. Soggy, thick made, long bodied & many of them with no socks, this young bull is siring some exceptionally good progeny. His calves at 3 days of age would grab our attention. Obviously they’ve kept on track & we are proud to showcase both sons & daughters of Hemi in our annual sale. The pedigree on this herdsire is golden, with Bar 5 Harrach on the very top side & the legendary Extra Best on the bottom. After losing the IPU Red Caesar 11U bull after only two calf crops, we ended up keeping a son of his, just hoping that he would do what his father did, which was being our main heifer bull. After the first five calves were born, we knew that Caesar 584 would become a permanent fixture at the ranch. A good herd bull always breeds better than himself, point in case is with this Caesar line. Every generation seems to impress us more and more. The calves from Caesar 584 are small at birth, but turn into curve bending growth machines. When touring people in the herd sire pasture, a lot of folks seem to gravitate towards this young herd sire. To make things even better, Caesar 584 is also homozygous polled.

This Crocket son was a popular bull in the Annual Skor Sale of 2013. So popular that he was in the first pair of bulls to sell in this highly respected Alberta bull sale. Jay Good selected Hashtag on our behalf, where he was one of the high sellers of the day. Shane Michelson will also tell you how highly he admired Hashtag & told us we did quite well picking up that bull. With those words from astute cattlemen we were quite delighted to be the new owners. Hashtag has seen heavy service the last two years, also breeding heifers as a yearling. His calves are easy to spot, with tons of hair, great length & are all around nicely packaged. Homo Polled to boot, Hashtag moves very freely & brings to our program different genetics - which as seedstock growers is essential in our business.

Finding that right heifer bull is always a challenge & a half for any producer. Red Knight was earmarked for that purpose when we purchased him in 2014. Mothered by a black Powerline first calf daughter, Terry & Debbie Skoretz felt he would calve well & also give the kind of performance we were looking for from our heifers. Not one single calf of his was assisted at birth & man do they look good a year later. Red Knight travels like a hovercraft, smooth & steady. His muscle expression is impressive & he is developing into a well-balanced, smooth made herdsire. You will hear a lot more about this guy in years to come. Homozygous Polled.

Our new homozygous black and homo polled bull we purchased as the high selling black in the 2012 Westgold and Guests sale. Stealth caught my eye when I toured Ken’s pen of bulls. His sheer length and size was what really excited me. His sire and dam are both impressive animals and to top it off their pedigrees are a total outcross to anything you’ll find in any catalog. We also like the size of foot on Stealth and his calves are easy to work with and all around a tremendous bull for our black program. His progeny should be well received as we are overjoyed with the way he’s bred. This will be the last calf crop to sell from Westgold Stealth, so load up on his sons & daughters. You’ll be glad you did.

We’re quite excited with Red Express! He was the lead off bull at Herdmasters 2013. Doug Zimmer had nothing but praise for his mother, especially since Red Express was her first calf. Express was truly one of the thickest, deepest bodied bulls we saw in the spring of 2013. This stout made bull is an impressive individual, one of the only yearling bulls we’ve used that never lost any condition during breeding season. His super dark red color is something he passes on to his progeny as well. The combination of length, thickness & middle to this herd sire is something that blends nicely. His calves are born small & easy, they then keep growing & performing well. We believe Red Express will have a bright future here at RF. Look over his sons & daughters, you will like them too! We knew from an early age that 115C would probably be the “big kahuna” of the bull pen. At weaning time he earned his title, weighing in at a whopping 1155lbs! This bull is heavily muscled, thick as peanut butter on toast, and a real meat machine. Nero strikes yet again, making his son Polled. Bet you didn’t think a Polled Fullblood could be this thick & have this much performance? We’re happy to confirm that possibility with 115C. His mother is a beautiful young cow. She’s a full sister to last year’s high selling Fullblood bull that Wall Ranches of Edam, SK purchased for their high reputation herd. 115C will add performance to anyone’s program. This is what the beef business is all about.

Here’s a heck of a stout rascal. He’s been a performance powerhouse since birth. Yet another son of Nero who’s polled. Talk about a tank, he weaned off mama at 1120lbs this fall. Wide topped, good hip & stands square on all four legs with a big set of nuts. He’s the profitable rancher’s kind of bull. A little different twist on pedigree with his mother being a legendary Stulberg bred cow, sired by the German bull Steward. The Stulberg cattle have had a lasting impact on our herd & to think many of them are still producing when they are 10-14 yrs of age is a testament of their quality. A maternal brother sold in last year’s sale to first time buyer Larry McCauley of Lundar for $4000.

This smooth polled Fullblood bull could be used in many different scenarios. His mother is one of our oldest cows now, 14yrs of age but still going. She traces back to a very strong cow family whom have raised countless bulls over the span of 30+ years. Denis & Donna Parthenay, our neighbors who farm west of us have used 2 sons from the Ms Buster cow over the years & purchased well over 55 bulls from us. The Parthenays never cut corners. They buy the very best bulls they can find & in turn the calves they sell always command the highest bid at market. Their heifers are some of the most sought after replacement females that sell every year in town.

When sorting for breeding time in the spring, everyone knows the 80U cow automatically goes in the “Nero pen”. It’s kind of easy to see why. Just look at this guy & the performance he holds. But, it gets better, he’s Polled to boot! Talk about added value & obviously you won’t be sacrificing any pounds without having horns, as he rocked the scale at weaning time coming in at 1040lbs. 80C is exceptionally well put together, has that extra thickness & great set of ribs. The hair on this guy is also a big feature, something we always put a lot of emphasis on. The mother of this powerful bull is a never miss cow. She gives 100% every year & always raises one of our feature bulls. Consistency is definitely bred into this bull. 80C’s full brother sold in last year’s sale as our 2nd high selling Fullblood. He was purchased over the phone by Kline Simmental Ranch of Hurdsfield, ND for $12,000.

The gaining popularity of Polled Fullbloods is directly attributed to producing bulls like 704C. Nero sires polled cattle unlike any other Fullblood out there, they have the build & performance of horned cattle but in a hornless package. Our motto has always been simple, “Breed quality & don’t chase trends” quality & pounds will always pay as long as cattle sell by the pound. 704C is one heck of a powerful herdsire in the making, Ben Wright was sure fond of this bull when touring last fall. He was one of the heavy weights at weaning time & has stayed on track to retain his title. Deep sided, thick made with tons of rib, a bull who stands square on all fours. His MFI Supreme dam is another feather in his hat, she’s a feminine, easy keeping, good milking mother cow who knows how to raise the good ones. A full brother was selected by Belle Plaine Colony for $8750 last year.

How many times do you hear someone talk about how they’d like to use a Fullblood bull on their red cattle but don’t want to deal with horns. The solution is simple, use a bull like 43C. Long bodied, nice hair coat, hard muscled & moderate in size. A bull that could also go to work on some Hereford type cows. Kenray Ranch of Redvers, SK has a full brother working in their reputable herd. Larkspur Ranch of Eddystone own two maternal brothers along with Armand & Coline Verhaeghe of Ste. A bull who will be just over a year of age on sale day however you’d think he was older. His sire, IPU Nero, has been our go to Fullblood sire in the last few years. It seems you just can’t go wrong breeding any female with him. We feel his sons amplify the same genuine traits, something that as cattle herds get larger the necessity for quality animals also increases. A quiet individual, long bodied & well balanced. His full brother was selected by Kelly & Lorraine Johnson for $9500 in last year’s sale. The Johnsons brought a great set of steer calves to SRAM in mid December, whom were all sired by Rendezvous bulls.

This bull was born while our bull sale was happening at the Auction Mart last year. Luckily Richard raced back after & brought him in the calving barn to warm up. Dad takes credit now as to why this Nero son is so good. However his sire & dam may have a little to do with that as well. The mother of this bull is none other than our polled 60U cow who raised Rendezvous Galba that Semex purchased for $14,000 a few years back. 60C is an impressive herdsire in the making. His depth of rib & length complement each other & balance him off quite nicely. 60C is so full in the flank, low to the ground & as easy keeping as they get. We all know how hard it is to find that right Fullblood bull. This may just be the one you’ve been looking for.

Practically a March born bull but you’d never know it looking at him. Low to the ground with tons of depth, 54C travels like a cloud. He’s got that typical Nero look to him. Here’s a bull that will have his fair share of admirers. We all talk about how & when we find that right Fullblood bull & where to go to find him. The search could end by adding 450C to the program. This powerhouse of a bull is as good as we’ve ever raised in 37 years. Thick, thick made, super length, low to the ground, wide topped, excellent conformation, he’s been a standout all summer & sure has that herdbull look to him. Weaning off the cow at 1075lbs, this young bull brings the whole package together & has a pedigree of gold. 450C’s mother is a flawless Paramount daughter, feminine, easy keeping, long bodied & carries a beautiful udder. As a first calf heifer, she raised our high selling bull in 2011 going to one of Saskatchewan’s very best commercial herds, Thorsteinson Land & Livestock of Foam Lake, SK.

Weaning off the cow at 1005lbs didn’t hurt either. 85C stems from a highly productive cow family, notable sires such as Paramount, Mania, Kingbuster, Shenandoah & Meister all come up. Dark, dark red in color, here’s a bull that would work well on a group of Red factor cows while adding some milk & maintaining muscling. North SIDE Farms Ltd, the Brunels of Ste. Rose, purchased a full brother two years ago to use in their reputation herd. Read about how well the Brunel steers sold this fall later on in this catalogue. If your desire is to raise market topping steers it all starts with the bulls you select. A herdsire is 75% of your herd. Take into consideration how many calves he will sire in a span of 5 years.

A friendly Smuggler son who’s deemed the Wal-Mart greeter of the group. A moder-ate framed bull who will grow out nicely & not be extreme in any way. We have a full sister at home who’s one of our top fullblood bred heifers. A lot of MFI/Anchor T breeding in this guy on the top & bottom sides, so if you’re in search of some time proven genetics, this guy’s the real deal.

Here’s a super well put together bull, rich in color with that dark wavy hair he’s sure to have some admirers. Long bodied, thick butted, very correct in so many ways, 577C is a bull that could go on black or red cows & work wonders. A set of steers from this bull would get coffee row talking about your take home pay at the auction barn. The dam of this bull may very well be our top Fullblood cow in her prime production years. She’s raised countless bull calves in her illustrious career, plus a daughter whom we reluctantly sold in last year’s sale going to Six Mile Simmentals of Fisher Branch. A full brother to 577C was one of our high sellers in 2014 going to one of North Dakota’s leading commercial outfits, Remmick Farms.

Mothered by an outstanding twelve year old Mania cow who’s due to calve in mid January. If fertility & maternal traits are high on your list of must have’s well you should have your bases covered with her son. We’ve retained six maternal sisters to this son. I think that’s a pretty big statement in itself. Goggle eyed, long bodied, big testicles, this Fullblood NUG Smuggler son could be used in a variety of environ-ments. Crossing him with red or black cows would be a pretty quick way to recapture your investment. A maternal brother is working in the herd of Salty Lake Farms Inc., Watrous, SK where they run a large mixed farming operation.

Check out this outstanding Fullblood bull with no socks. His extreme length will definitely catch your attention. Thick, rich hair coat, smooth made & structurally correct with a huge set of testicles & an excellent bunch of numbers. A bull like 562C will add substance & power to anyone’s herd bull battery. His dam is an eloquent young Draco daughter who’s been producing exceptionally well with this guy being her 3rd calf & 3rd son in our sale. Last year’s full brother sold for $9500 to Belle Plaine Colony, SK and the year before Neil & Patricia Bray purchased a brother for $6000.

Smuggler crossed with Supreme is a winning combination; actually breeding the 542S cow with any bull has been like hitting the jackpot. Her 2015 son isn’t a one hit wonder either. He’s beefy, thick made, has large testicles & boasts the best hair coat you’ll find. A full brother in last year’s sale was a high seller going to a very astute rancher, David Remmick from Robinson, ND. David has had great luck using Fullblood bulls on black & red cows & has purchased many bulls from us over the last few years. Smart Farms & Zdan Farms each own a brother to 542C as well, all progressive cattle operations with a common denominator…it will be interesting to see who steps up to the plate & purchases 542C.

64C always gets noticed & for the right reasons too. A classic Simmental, the kind of bull whom we as livestock enthusiasts all respect. This bull has all the qualities that built this great breed we are proud to be a part of. Hard muscled, thick butted & long bodied along with a large set of testicles, he will get the job done. We have a full sister who will have calved by sale time. She’s shaping into a beautiful young female. 64C should sire some awesome mother cows.

The combination of power & calving ease comes together nicely with 567C. All of these Trigger sons are like peas in a pod. This bull is a real meat wagon, stylish & complete. He has herdbull written all over him. If you background your calves, you’ll really like these Trigger sons, as they have the ability to gain pounds like it’s no tomorrow. The dam of this bull is a sweet made blaze faced Bombshell female that most people pick out when pasture touring. A full brother was selected in last year’s sale by our next door neighbors & friends Ernest & Melanie Beasse. We’re honored to have such great support at our sale from all of our neighbors & fellow cattle producers every year. Tested Homozygous Polled.

This is one heck of a big barreled, deep flanked, thick butted beef bull. He usually gets picked out within the first few minutes of everyone’s bull pen tour. He always stands square on all four corners, a good footed bull that reminds us immensely of his sire. Just picture the kind of calves 98C will sire. They should group up exceptionally well at weaning time. Consistency & predictability have never been more important in this business. Bulls like 98C are the ones to mold your beef herd around. The eastern feeder market is always looking for some tan calves & adding Simmental blood will only be a good thing. The dam of this bull is an impeccable Icon daughter. The Trigger sons have been widely accepted by the entire commercial industry. These bulls are such a perfect fit for most progressive cattlemen. They start out small at birth, grow out nicely all summer & then come fall they explode with growth & press down hard on the scales. 95C is a prime example of this model - 93lbs at birth & 980lbs at weaning - ain’t nothing wrong with that in our mind. With Caesar on the dam’s side & the old red bull who started it all, Icon 16P, this beef bull should be an easy fit in anyone’s herd.

Those are the cattle who yield you the highest profit every year. The dam of this bull is a top Jahari cow. She’s the front cover kind of gal, always in top shape & producing excellent calves is what she does. We’ve had a couple sisters to this bull & they are turning out lovely. The 435U cow does it again. Year in & year out the big powerful Jahari cow produces a whopping good calf. This year is no different, as this is the 5th bull in a row that she’s sent to the bull sale. This year’s calf is quite the impressive individual. He’s one of our famous single cross red, polled blaze bulls, the kind we just can’t make enough of! He could very well be the longest bull in our offering. 435C is smooth made, structurally correct, thick butted, big nuts, the list goes on & on. The four brothers to this bull have all stayed quite local working in the herds of Rainy Ridge Farms, Laurier; Darwin Froese, Grandview; Neil Bray, Eddystone & last year’s full brother who sold for $11,750 also resides in Eddystone at the Larkspur Ranch. As breeders there’s no better feeling than to see your bulls go into such highly reputable herds & hear about all their successes.

The dam of this bull is an exceptional producing cow. She’s raised more than one lead off son over the years. This year is no exception. 365C or his brother, 565C, are both impressive bulls. This fella has the money stripe down the forehead, he’s very long bodied & thick made. He’ll mature into a powerful herdsire, just like all Hummer sons do. Temperament is second to none which is a trademark of the Hummer cattle. The Bombshell mother is a sweet made cow, moderate framed, easy keeping & wide topped. 3 generations blazed. Hummer has played a huge role in our breeding program, siring the thickest, most performance oriented type of cattle in this breed. We’ve heard the comment multiple times from anyone bull shopping stating “It really doesn’t matter which Hummer bull we buy, they’re all good”. 565C however is as good of a Hummer son to sell as we’ve ever had on offer. Super low to the ground with that all meat no potatoes type natural thickness. Get behind him & look at those quarters, they come down deep to the hock. The dam of this bull is a beautiful blaze faced cow that never misses, she’s raised a few high sellers for us over the years. Last year’s son, (a full brother to 565C) started out the sale & brought $11,500 to Randy Schmitt of Rugby, ND. Performance, length of body, depth of rib & that masculine herdbull look. His mother has a different pedigree on the top side, back to when we used to dabble in some AI bulls. She’s raised sons that have went to Bonin Farms, McPeak Parntership & Klein Ranching along with numerous daughters we’ve retained in the herd.

If you’ve got some black & red cows, give this bull a try as he’ll work wonders any way you slice it. A multi generation red polled bull with tons of black pigmentation, usually a sign of a non dilutor. The dam of this bull is a beautiful, blaze faced, moderate made IPU Specialist daughter. The Specialist bull left us some terrific females before he made his way to Robert Rath’s herd in North Dakota. This cow’s first son sold in 2014 to first time buyers, Murray & Don Bowes of Kamsack, SK.

As herds get larger the thought is to run multiple half & ¾ brothers together, siring more consistent & uniform groups of cattle. These Red Express bulls are sure taking our program by storm, and they are very well liked by all who have visited the farm this winter. 92C is a tag number that gets written down often, as he’s like a loaded pizza pop, with so much capacity. This bull’s mother is a young Shamrock female who is developing into a beautiful, powerful cow. Her first son was purchased by Korey & Carrie Lylyk of Benito in last year’s sale. 92C is her second calf & we can’t wait to be able to offer more of her progeny in years to come.

Built like a D8 Cat & as dark red as it’s possible to make them. This stellar bull is a real herdbull in the making. Masculine, long bodied with that same look as his dad, Red Express. He crunched the scale at weaning time weighing in at 1060lbs. Expect some good things to come from this guy. His dam is a moderate made, dark red IPU Specialist daughter with a picture perfect udder & great feet & legs. A full brother to 481C was our high selling bull last year going to Zdan Farms of Alonsa for $14,000. The Zdans run one of the very best commercial Simmental herds in the country. Curtis has always selected the very best bulls for his program & in turn his “waiting list” for replacement heifers is a page long. Quality cattle never cost, they only pay. Tested Homozygous Polled.

As herds get larger the need for calving ease & superior growth & performance is a must. When you make your living by raising cattle like we do, we’ve made sure to select & raise those kinds of bulls which in turn satisfy all ranch-ers. This dark dark colored bull is deep bodied, long spined & bred right. Check out his bw & actual ww, curve bender in our opinion. A full sister to 52C now calls Hayti, SD home at the Wadsworth Ranch. Here’s a powerful herdsire in the making, practically a spitting image of his dad. Long bodied, smooth built, easy keeping & mellow made with that crest on his neck - all the true signs of a herdbull. The depth on these Red Express cattle rival any bull we’ve owned. He’s surpassed our expectations with his first two calf crops. His Icon mother is like all Icon females - feminine, deep ribbed, easy keeping & an excellent milker. If you own highway frontage pasture, chances are you’ll have trucks slowing down checking out this bull with your cowherd.

A real rancher’s bull here. Blaze faced, chuck full of meat & muscle with a top as wide as your discbine. We’ve used his sire, Red Express, heavily the last few breeding seasons. His progeny all have that loose hided, soft made phenotype. 123C would raise some amazing replacement heifers, and there would be no trouble selling them. Steer calves will no doubt be market toppers. We all sell calves by the pound & bulls like 123C always yield the most money for their owners. The mother is a beautiful blaze faced Hummer daughter who’s a real tank. Built in predictability in this bull with 37 years of Rendezvous breeding. If you’re in search of a soggy made, super stout, stellar herdsire in the making, 468C is going to be an easy pick. This baldy bull could survive in some pretty harsh conditions & still look great, he’s just so easy keeping. Loads of maternal power & longevity on the dam’s side, with a highly productive cow family that we rank at the top end of the scale. The lot 29, AIA 98C bull stems from the same cow family, and we feel that’s worth mentioning. A full brother was selected in last year’s sale by a good mixed farmer, Gordy Thompson of Ochre River. The year before that, another brother was selected by long time customer & friend, Todd McPeak of Driscoll, ND.

Another heavy hitter here, and it’s hard not to appreciate this guy’s extra length. Anytime you have an animal with a little more length, right away the extra pounds are there. It’s the easiest way to fast track some weight on your calf crop, so buy yourself a LONG bull! The dam of this bull has been a strong producing cow, and we’ve retained all of her daughters, five in total for our own herd. Her two other sons have gone to Gerry & Lance Bonin of Ste Rose. The Bonins are known for raising some good replacement heifers along with usually topping the market at SRAM when they sell their steers.

This is the 4th son to sell from the Bombshell cow, 630W. She’s a hard working momma that raises some darn good bulls whom are always popular at sale time. This year’s calf is another home run, sired by Red Express. He’ll always stay in good shape. Low to the ground, thick made, with a very even & balanced conformation. This bull shares the perfect combination of calving ease & growth, which is what the Simmental breed is known for. 630C has so many things going for him - pedigree, hair coat, disposition, the list goes on! Brothers to this bull have been purchased by D&R Seed Farms, Morden, Les Shindela, Sandy Lake and Corey & Wayne Taylor of Eddystone. Tested Homozygous Polled.

An end of January bull with so much depth & middle. A bull that could be used in many different ways. These blaze faced bulls can go on a variety of cows & sire some pretty outstanding progeny. Mothered by a tank of a cow that weighs in around 1800lbs is another check mark on the performance side. Ron Boerchers of Laurier purchased a maternal brother as one of his first red Simmentals a few years back to use on his white cows. Ron is a master cattle breeder, having developed one of the most prestigious Holstein herds in the country as well as his commercial beef herd. He tells us his 555 bull was the best bull he’s ever used. Since then Rainy Ridge Farms have purchased three more single cross Red Polled bulls to use in their reputation herd. Proof is in the pudding here.

The first comment made on these Hashtag sons is always about the amount of thick luscious hair they have. Other comments compliment the length of body & square made thick hind quarters. 143C has that popular blaze that commands that huge premium in the Auction barns when marketing your calf crop. A maternal sister was selected by Birchlawn Acres of MacGregor in last year’s sale. Abe Unrau was our volume buyer purchasing five head, thanks Abe!

This Hashtag son has probably garnered as much attention from visitors as any pen mate. You can spot this guy a mile away with his unequivocal length of body. He truly has that superior length we strive to produce as seedstock suppliers. However, length is only one of his indisputable charac-teristics, walk behind him & you’ll find a massive, square made, thick thick butt end. His hair coat will keep him nice & toasty all winter & his large set of testicles will get the job done with the girls. The dam of this bull is a big, broody, blaze faced Hummer daughter. She’s always fat no matter what, perfect udder, lots of milk, the herdbull making kind. 626C is the cookie cutter type of bull that we feel is so right for the times. This bull is most likely homozygous polled by pedigree, and you’ll want to put a check mark besides his number.

I really don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I’ll say it again, we just can’t make enough of these single cross red bulls. 68C has the unique pedigree you won’t find anywhere else in the prairies, Hashtag being a Crocket son crossed with an MFI Supreme cow. The blend of red & full-blood bloodlines just gives you that extra punch we as beef producers all seek. The Caesar sons are known far & wide for their calving ease & curve bending growth abilities. With 9 Caesar sons to choose from, the selection has never been better. We always get a large amount of inquiries for heifer bulls & I’m pleased to say we have more than a few options this year. This particular bull was born unassisted, hence the lack of ears on a cold New Year’s night. His Hummer mother is a super stout, big ribbed female who stayed in good condition all year with her first calf.

Another wide topped, low set, easy keeping smooth made bull. Born small at 79lbs, this guy should work well in the heifer pen or on some 2nd calvers. 37C should sire some middle of the road calves with no extremes. We really like his hair coat, and his pedigree has a different twist on the bottom going back to a cow we purchased from Big Sky at the Hoedown sale a number of years ago. Tested Inconclusive to Homozygous Polled.

68A wide topped, low set, easy keeping rascal. This bull is fine boned & has a +10 CE EPD & 75lbs birth weight. If he’s anything like his sire, he should work on heifers. His dam is a dark red Shamrock daughter who did a wonderful job raising her first calf. Many generations dark red, these Caesar sons have sure gained popularity for what they can do. They’re the curve bending types.

North S.I.D.E. Farms Ltd, Ste. Rose, MB – CSA #4166

Emile Brunel, his wife Irene, along with his son Derek & wife Shelly own & operate North S.I.D.E. Farms, a well known grain & cattle farm along highway 276. Their youngest son Marc, a geologist in the oil field also helps out as much as time permits. Emile has been a familiar face around many Simmental sales in Manitoba. He has built a tremendous foundation herd & has been using Simmental bulls since 1969. The Brunel bred heifers are usually spoken for a year in advance. They are always a hot commodity in our area. The vast majority of their cowherd traces back to Rendezvous bulls with the most current lines of Hummer, Specialist & Smuggler having been used.

October 22, 2015 - The Brunels sold their steer calves, all sired by Rendezvous bulls at the Ste. Rose Auction Mart. Their top group weighed 883lbs after a 4% shrink, straight off the cows. (920lbs actual) The Brunels topped the sale once again, commanding $2.425/lbs resulting in $2141 per calf!

Congrats to the Brunel family on producing such quality cattle & thank you for all of your purchases over the years along with your friendship!

Yet another fantastic Caesar son with a lot of rib, depth & tons of middle. Thick, easy doing, smooth shoulders with loads of eye appeal. His dam was a first calf Trigger daughter. We are on our second year of calving Trigger females & let me tell you, they are going to be fantastic brood cows. Another one of these great curve bender bulls with a balanced set of numbers. Lots of capacity & rib shape, 184C has a lot of things going for him.

An easy keeping blaze faced bull out of a Hummer first calf female. The average birth weight on the Caesar sons was 80lbs for 2015. The necessity for easy calving, high gaining Simmental cattle has become a real reality in this business since everyone is faced running larger numbers with no increase in man power. We as breeders are no different & have come to really appreciate bulls like 151C. The Caesar sons were one of our most popular sire groups in last year’s sale, and we anticipate the same again for this year. Get yourself one before the neighbor does. This is by far the largest offering of prospective heifer bulls we’ve ever offered & we are thrilled. There’s a growing movement among cattle producers who would rather use a Simmental bull on their heifers instead of a British breed. One of the most valid reasons is birth weight consistency. Bulls like 86C are ideal candidates for the task at hand. Moderate build, smooth shouldered, small head, an all around nice package with that sweet blaze down his head.

When a first calf heifer can raise a bull like this on her first go, you just know she’s going to have a promising career. We usually have 1 or 2 heifers that manage to raise a calf that tips the scale at the 1000lbs mark, and this year it’s 124C. Born easily at 82lbs, this little bugger has had an amazing growth curve. This guy reminds us a lot of his sire, Red Knight, he also has that extra depth that the Trigger bull is known for. His dam is a beautiful, easy keeping, wide topped, lovely uddered young female. I could go on & on about 124C but nothing beats analyzing an animal in person, so have a good look at this calving ease beef bull.

Red Knight seems to have really clicked with the Caesar daughters, which is great news, especially during calving season. Things get even better after calving; the calves develop into some very well proportioned animals. Long spined, smooth shoulders with built in calving ease bred into this bull. You’ll get lots of sleep using a bull like 25C.

Another son from our new heifer bull, Skors Red Knight. Long bodied, super smooth, great shoulders & a clean front end. All signs point to calving ease with this guy. With a low birth weight of 75lbs it will be sweet dreams at bed time for this bull’s new owner. This is the kind of bull we’d use on our own heifers. If you run some white bulls, consider adding this guy to the fleet so you can market some of those popular buckskin calves for the Eastern market. We sold his sire, the Benjamin bull, this spring to a great guy, Hughie Beals of Birch River, MB. This will be your last chance to acquire some genetics from that popular herdsire. Check out this powerhouse of a bull, he looks stellar from any angle. This big brute will turn some heads on sale day. This bull is so easy keeping & mellow made with extreme depth packaged so nicely. A bull that will add weight & scale to anyone’s calf crop. I really wish we had more of these Benjamin sons on offer, as they averaged $7375 last year & were very well received by top ranchers across the province. Dustin Poschenrieder of Westbourne has two brothers to this bull working in his herd. Ask Dustin about all of his Rendezvous bulls. The easiest way to pick out any Stealth sired progeny is by their length, and 580C is a prime example. We’ve always felt that raising a long bodied animal has always yielded more pounds at the end of the day - it’s simple cowboy logic. Smooth made & mothered by a Supreme female, quality will no doubt yield from this bull. A full brother sold for top dollar last year to Tim Darknell of Moosehorn, MB. Tim selected three Stealth sons along with some daughters to work in his all black herd.

Talk about a well built bull, a real meat wagon on legs. He’s got the perfect chrome marking down the forehead. The order buyers will be tacking on some extra money for his calves when they go through the ring. A stout made individual with loads of capacity, he’s a real eye catcher in the bull pen & rightfully so. Big testicles, masculine stand, easy keeping, wide topped, the list of adjectives can go on when talking about 622C. His sire, Hot Shot, stamps his sons all the same, born small & grow quick, they’re low to the ground with meat that hangs low. They complement the Stealth cattle very well. Darryl Friesen of Carrot River, SK picked up a maternal brother from us a few years back.

Talk about a black blaze faced tank, 427C is low to the ground & as easy keeping as they get. Assess this bull from any angle, he’s so deep made with a great spring or ribs. Quiet in nature, 427C will add some thickness & meat to his progeny. Jay Good toured the bull pen in late November & he was sure impressed by this bull. “What more do you want, this guy is complete” was one of his comments. Mothered by a fantastic cow that never misses, she’s generated many daughters for our herd along with a son that’s working at Smolinski Farms of Arborg, MB.

This guy reminds us so much of his sire, Spring Creek Hot Shot. His solid stance, hard muscling, thick hind quarters & appealing head make him a very desirable lot. He likes to come & check out visitors in the bull pen, a very quiet individual. We really like his set of numbers, 90lbs at birth & 975lbs at weaning. We can all make a good living with those digits. Repeat customer Mike Sveistrup of Vogar, MB has a maternal brother in his herd and Stacey Bell of Clive, AB purchased a sister in last year’s sale.

Sale Feature. At weaning time Gerry really insisted we add our very best Nero heifer in the sale. I was reluctant knowing what she could accomplish in our own program & the future herdsires she could raise. However, in any successful farm family partnership we must get along….therefore 45C sells. A beautiful pear shaped female, thick made, long bodied & feminine. Weaning off her mother at a whopping 865lbs with only mom’s milk & native pasture, this female will have a bright future ahead of her. She’s as good of a heifer as we’ve ever raised in 37 years. Her dam is an ideal type Paramount daughter who’s raised sons for Oral Burwash of Birch River, Larkspur Ranch, Eddystone & Poschenrieder Farms Ltd, Westbourne.

Hot Shot scored us some pretty nice calves for his first year. 453C is a prime example, born small & unassisted at 90lbs on a cold end of January night. Our good buddy, Joel Saquet stopped in that particular evening with a bottle of Captain Morgan’s…needless to say by looking at this bull’s ears our check that night was 45 minutes late. This awesome made bull has such a flawless phenotype. Heavy muscled, super thick butted & moderate made, plus he’s blaze faced & mothered by a blaze faced Hummer daughter.

Here’s a solid built, solid black son of our new herdsire, Spring Creek Hot Shot. He’s a touch younger than his brothers but his gain to play catch up has been wicked. 535C is light on his feet & has a great stride. He’s filled in the flank, loose hided & thick butted. His blaze faced Icon dam never misses. She’s been a very reliable producer, this being her 4th son to sell. I had the pleasure of buying last year’s brother over the phone for Travis & Michelle Wadsworth of Hayti, South Dakota. We really like the hair coat on this girl, her length of spine, femininity & all around great structure & thickness. His daughters are going to be real gems & I don’t know if we are going to part with many more after this sale so my suggestion is if you like what you see, load up on them. We had an awesome full brother slated for last year’s sale however he was injured prior to sale time & we were un-able to sell him. This heifer is most likely homo polled if I were to guess with her pedigree.

We retained every Hashtag daughter last year so it enabled us to offer a few more in this year’s sale. However, since Hashtag is now working at Jarret Bieber’s in Wolseley, Saskatchewan, this will be his first & last offering of females for sale. This fancy made, wide topped, easy keeping female will have no trouble making friends at sale time. Long bodied, elegantly made, deep sided, a first cross red female who’s mother is a polled Full Fleck, Sunny Valley Sargent daughter tracing back to some legendary MFI females. Our single cross reds always raise the payweight calves. Let this female do the same for you.
