The National Museum in Butuan City houses some of the important
archaeological finds in Butuan City and around the Caraga Region of the
Philippines. The most important artifact of all are the parts of
the Balanghai, also called ButuanBoats, which were discovered back
in 1974.
The Golden Tara is one of the two
undeniable manifestations that
the Kingdom of Butuan was trading
with the Indians during the Sri-Visayan
Empire sometime 700-1370 AD.
Silop Caves is a spelunking destination. It has different cave entrances leading to four big chambers with impressive
limestone formations, stalagmites and stalactites – some of them creating magnificent columns. It is a massive
cave system – 6 caves to be exact.
The 6th cave has not even been explored.
Cave 1 is not for tourists – it’s heavy on bat dung, deep with low oxygen
levels and there is a healthy snake
population.
