Cards Card Files(aka “Tabs”)
Power-Link is a series of Cards and Card Files
CARD FILES
Card file selection is the first drop down menu
CARD FILES
Card files designate the cards that
appear on the top of a record detail.
TYPES OF CARDS
There are seven type of cards
▪ Attribute – shows fields of data
▪ Compound – contains several cards in one
▪ Graph – shows graphical views of data
▪ List – contains a list of records with multiple columns of information per record.
▪ Overview – contains a list of related objects in a hierarchy format.
▪ Related – allows to display a card from a related object
▪ Tabbed – contains multiple, related cards in a tabbed format.

▪ Data is field values
▪ Icons appear along the top
▪ Multiple sections on the card
▪ Data appears in many forms

section.

CREATING AN ATTRIBUTE CARD
Customize > Cards
Select Description & New
Name & Select Attributes
Additional Menu Options Exist
Add Column – adds all following attributes to a new column to the right
Append Column – adds next attribute directly to the right in a new column
Add Constant – add a label or “blank” line
Based on – import from another card
CREATING AN ATTRIBUTE CARD
WORKBENCHES
WORKBENCHES
• The size and position of each window on your desktop
• The selected card in the card file for any windows that contain card files
• The view, subset, and sort applied to a
list for any windows that contain list

For all of the windows in a workbench, the workbench function retains:
WORKBENCHES
Workbench – group of windows that are used to perform
a task, which can be invoked at the same time.
CREATE A WORKBENCH
Select the “main” window
▪ Will broadcast out
▪ Can select any subset, as
normal
CREATE A WORKBENCH
Select the “secondary”
window(s)
▪ Receives broadcast
▪ Changes as the selection
on the “main” window
changes
CREATE A WORKBENCH
Turn on Broadcast on the “main” screen and turn on Receive on the “secondary” screen
EXAMPLE OF A WORKBENCH
SAVE A WORKBENCH
1. Name the Workbench
2. Chose “Public” or
“Private”
3. Chose Presentation
Options
4. Global Options
5. Click “Continue”
WORKBENCH TIPS/TRICKS
• Can have more than one “main” window
• Can have more than one “secondary” window
• A window can be a “main” and a “secondary”
• Use icon in bottom, right corner to Restore, Minimize, or Close all
screens at once
• Check Customize>Preferences>Broadcast if screens do not communicate as
expected
