Vision

Our vision is to grow as a multi-national company dealing in value-added

food, oleo-chemical, neutraceutical, pharmaceutical products and

environment friendly fuels, all derived from RSPO certified sustainable oil

palm.

Product Range and Applications

Food Service and

Industrial Products

• Carotino Margarine is formulated to

enhance the texture of baked

products.

Carotino Shortening replaces butter or

normal yellow shortening.

Carotino Butter Oil Substitute (BOS) is

specially formulated from red palm oil

and has a delicious butter flavour. It is

ideally suited for making breads,

cookies, crackers, pastries, cakes and

other baking products.

• The Carotino Biscuit is a phyto-nutrient-

rich biscuit designed to combat vitamin

deficiencies and ‘hidden hunger.’

• Carotino produces a range of natural

vitamin-rich oils, oleins and superoleins for

use in a wide variety of food manufacturing

processes. These products can be used as

natural colourants in products like potato

crisps, french fries, pastas, noodles and

snacks.

• Carotino Carofry is a vitamin-rich, golden

frying oil for use in commercial catering.

Neutraceuticals• Carotino Phytonutrient Mix can be used

as a substrate for producing carotenes

and tocotrienols in high concentrations. It

is used for food applications like dietary

supplements, colourants and ingredients

in personal care products.

• Carotino Natural Carotenes (eg. CC30)

and Carotino Natural Tocotrienols (TRF

50) can be used in food supplements

(eg. Vitamin capsules), fortified foods

and other applications such as use in

cosmetics and personal care products.

Animal Feed• Carotino Tocotrienol-Carotene

Mixed Concentrates take the form

of a reddish, viscous oil which is

used for processing into feed

grade applications.

Product Range and Applications

Oleochemicals• Carotino Palmitic Methyl Ester C16ME and Carotino Oleic Methyl Ester

C18ME are downstream products of palm oil trans-esterification

process.

• Carotino C16ME is a premium material for producing high quality

detergent actives like Methyl Ester Sulphonates (MES) and Methyl

Ester Ethoxylates (MEE) which are ingredients for environmentally

friendly and biodegradable detergents.

• Carotino Oleic Methyl Ester C18ME is processed to make ingredients

for the personal care, cosmetics, industrial and pharmaceutical

industries

Nutritional and Medical Studies

• The Carotino Group has been involved in extensive research into using

natural Carotino carotene supplementation as a means of combating

Vitamin A deficiency among children and women in the developing world.

Global Nutritional Studies – Vitamin A

Extensive scientific research has been carried out on the beneficial effects of

supplementing the diets of Vitamin A deficient adults and children with red palm

oil or Carotino-enriched food products. These studies include the following:

• Lactating women in Honduras who consumed Carotino red palm oil showed significant increases in alpha

and beta carotene levels in their breast milk. Canfield L.M. et al. (2000)

• Mothers and children in Burkina Faso whose diets were supplemented with red palm oil showed a 40 %

reduction in Vitamin A deficiencies. Zagre N.M. et al. (2002)

• Pre-school children in Hydrabad, India, who consumed 5 ml of red palm oil per day showed marked

improvements in their serum beta-carotene levels.Sivan Y.S. et al. (2001)

• Bangladeshi children suffering respiratory infections and other diseases showed significantly increased

serum retinol levels after their diets were supplemented with biscuits made with Carotino. Ali S.M.K. et al.

(2001)

• Carotino palm oil supplementation significantly improved the serum retinal and Hb levels of children under

five in rural Vietnam. Nguyen T.L. et at. (2001)
