Importance of Teamwork
I‟m sure all of us saw the FIFA tournament that was held in Russia recently. We saw that to
win a football match, teamwork was especially important. It was not the team with the best
player that won, but the players with the best teamwork that did. I‟m sure all of us have
some or the other skill which we are extremely good at and may get even better at it, but the
most important thing is that these skills which we learn are supposed to be used to help
others and we should learn to work as a group using these skills. Like in sports, it is not the
person with the best skill who succeeds but the people with the best teamwork. We should
always learn to work with others and always work for the benefit of our team not for
personal benefits. Learning to work as a team and help and support each other is also a skill
which will take us far in life. I hope everyone will develop this skill and work together to
achieve success.

In our journey to excellence, our most powerful resource is our children. We aim at
providing wings and directions to their diverse imaginations and dreams and preparing
them to embrace the challenges instead of attempting to resist an experience for
growth. Dear children, be clear on what you want to accomplish in life and work on it.
Be thankful for all the support your parents, teachers and this wonderful school is
providing you. Feel blessed and try to give back in full measure what you get in
abundance. Everything will work out in your favour if you take just few steps forward,
confidently. Jayalekha O V
Success is no accident, it is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and
most of all, love of what you are doing. - Pele
The academic year 2018-19 is well under way now, and the school seems to have
settled into a healthy, happy rhythm. The students are busy, noisy and happy. School is
good!
Children are like wet clay. They can be moulded into any shape that we want to. So it
is the responsibility of the care givers to be very careful while performing their job.
The fact that children are quick to learn these days entails an extra responsibility on us
as to what they should be exposed to and what they should not, because they will
immediately pick up whatever they see. They need to be actively involved in a wide
range of activities which will help them develop important life skills. At National
Public School, Banashankari, we ensure that the students get ample opportunity to
participate in multi-faceted activities, both scholastic and co scholastic which will have
a lasting effect on their personality development. We encourage and nurture talent
among our students. Students of the higher grades need a lot of help in time
management, developing stamina to take the pressure of academics and to resolve inter
personal relationships with peers. As teachers and parents, let us be facilitators, in the
true sense of the word, in our children‟s progress.

MY ROLE MODEL – NEYMAR JR
‘Neymar isn’t a common name but it is becoming highly recognisable now.’
-Neymar Sr
Neymar da Silva Santos Junior, commonly called Neymar Jr or simply Neymar, was
born on 5th February 1992 at 2:15 AM in Mogi das Cruzes which is situated in Sao
Paulo, Brazil. He is a very well- known football player who is famous for switching
teams from Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain last year. He is also referred to as the
most expensive football player in the whole wide world.
Neymar Jr didn‟t have an easy and playful childhood like normal kids. His Dad-
Neymar Santos Sr- was a football player too who played for Brazil but earned less
than £1000. Earlier, at that time, many Brazilian football players used to earn less
than £1000. Neymar Sr struggled to put food on the table for his family so he along
with his wife- Nadine Santos, daughter- Rafaella Breckran, and son – Neymar Jr,
moved into his parent‟s house in Sao Vicente which is a seaside town of Sao Paulo,
Brazil. When Neymar Jr was ten, a miracle took place. Rafaella and Neymar
received a scholarship from a very prestigious private school of Brazil! They sure
owe Christ a thing or two.

A VISIT TO SRI LANKA
During our visit to Sri Lanka, we went to a place called Nuwaraeliya.
Nuwaraeliya is a picturesque Sri Lankan hill station known for its fine
quality tea Located in the midst of the hill station is
the Seetha Amman temple (the only Seetha temple in the world) This temple
is patterned in a traditional south Indian way and is set in a idyllic country
side beside a clear stream. This place is believed to be the site where Seetha
was held captive by King Ravana. It is said that she prayed daily here for
Lord Rama to come and rescue her in the Hindu epic Ramayana. On the rock
face, there are circular depressions, which are said to be the footprints on
Lord Hanuman himself. Adjacent to this temple is another temple dedicated
to Lord Hanuman, who according to mythology was instrumental in rescuing
Seetha from Lanka. Inside the temple premises, are idols of Lord Rama,
Lakshmana and Seetha. The Seetha temple looks like any other modern day
temple with a multi-coloured dome filled with mythological figures. On the
side closer to the river Bank is a small shrine with darkened idols which were
found about a century ago. Various versions of the Ramayana state that
Seetha's home in Lanka was inside a thick Ashoka forest. Three idols were
also discovered of which one was Seetha and these idols have been
worshipped at the same spot for many centuries. There is also a belief that
Ravana's palace was located somewhere in the vicinity. Overall this temple
is located in a very serene environment. it is a must see place for those who
are passionate about mythology!

Beauty of snow
It flickered down slowly as if it was lost
Smothering the land with ice and frost
It covered the world in a blanket of
white
Blinding countless people of their sight
Sometimes it brings us the greatest joy
Allowing us to play with it as if it were
a toy
We play and play with it day and night
All children and adults alike
When we trip, it cushions our fall
There are so many names by which we
call
But most of all it makes us smile
When we haven‟t in a while
It dances in the breeze as if it were
going to leave on the morrow
Taking away all our worries and sorrow
It covers up all the world has to show
Oh, such a beautiful thing it is snow

AB de Villiers
On May 23
rd, the news of AB de
Villiers‟ retirement disappointed all
cricket loves. The South African
batsman known as Mr.360, famous for
his unorthodox strokes was thought to
bring out a revolution to modern cricket.
The statistics barely tells us half the
story but, so far, AB has scored over
14,000 runs in 98 tests, more than 8000
runs in 190 one-day internationals for
South Africa, more than 40,000 runs in
professional career. He holds the record
for fastest ODI 50, 100, 150 runs.
Through all the pyrotechnics and
consistency, AB has remained a true
sportsman and a huge inspiration to
others.

Truth beyond the Eyes
Do not look in that mirror
Where the reflection tells lies,
Do not make the error
And succumb to stereotypes.
You are strong, you are smart
Being a queen is a diva's goal,
Any doubts in you, rip them apart.
Do not let shallow minds swallow you
whole.
Some patriarchs may not let you perform
But let them know it's the quiet before the
storm,
O heavy lightness! Perfection is a disease
and a bluff
But you're a lady, and that's good enough.

Self-Confidence
“Confidence is the key to success.” We
all have heard this saying. When faced
with a bigger challenge where failure
seems to lurk at every corner, we are
always told to be confident. But, what is
confidence? Confidence is the belief in
your own ability when doing anything
and viewing yourself and your
environment positively and
optimistically. In every stage of life,
confidence is needed to effectively
overcome obstacles and other challenges
we may face, and to accomplish our
goals. Self-confidence plays a major role
in everybody‟s life.

What is Beautiful? Beautiful is the happiness which cannot
be seen through two eyes,
Because it is very nice
It is the love between a mother and child,
on the world where loneliness is mild.
It is the graceful dance of the tree,
with the sweet song of a bird when it is
free.
It is the happiness on the small child‟s
face,
when it wins its first race.
It is the twinkling stars which are high
above the sky,
this beautiful thing is far away from us,
we don‟t know why.
It is the lotus which grows in dirty water,
to show, good people can also be found
in a plotter.
It is the glow of the stars at a dark night,
which gives hope that light can be found
at times of dark.
So it is not easy to define beautiful,
because it has many meanings which are
graceful.

DREAMS
Dreams are the fuel to
the soul,
They gift a pleasure
deep and known.
Picks you up and lets
you fight,
Doesn‟t let you sleep
at night.
Dreams of somewhere
far away,
Where a golden future
paints the rain.
Dreams of a day when
smiles and pain,
Presses adventure into
life‟s game.
A distant, graceful
work of art,
That paves its way
into your heart.
At most dreaded
times, gives you hope,
Shows you impossible
can be so close.
Dream is the fire in
your bone,
It‟s the spark you call
your very own.
They‟re the ones you
love and the life you
live,
Every fear you beat is
a dream fulfilled.
Because maybe
dreams do come true,
They can tear you
apart but maybe you
grew.
And maybe you
weren‟t sure of it too,
But dreams make us
heroes, so did it to
you.

Stephen Hawking was born exactly 300 years after Galileo died, and died exactly 139 years after Einstein was born. Tragedy struck him when he was only 22- at a time when most of us are in the prime of our lives. He was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, and was given only two years to live. Even mere survival would have been a medical marvel, but he did more than just survive. He emblazoned his name as one of the greatest scientists in human history, and touched the hearts of many. Humility rarely coexists with genius, but Hawking epitomised both. In the words of Neil de Grasse Tyson, "His passing left an intellectual vacuum in his wake. But it's not empty. It's a kind of energy permeating the fabric of space time that defies measure." Anushka Subramanian XII
