in consultation with the P&C Association regarding
the Year 12 Formal. At this stage given the
COVID19 restrictions, options are significantly
limited.
Regular sport including contact sport commencing at
the usual time of 1.45pm has recommenced at
school. Additionally, external adult providers to
support delivery of curriculum, school photos, white
card training and face to face TAFE etc has also
resumed.
School camps and excursions other than field trips;
parents and carers attending assemblies; parent
information evenings and large on-site cultural or
sporting events currently remain on hold.
Casino High School continues with all hygiene
measures recommended to prevent infection. It is
recommended that students bring water bottles from
home to fill at the water taps rather than drink
directly from the bubblers. We vigilantly ensure best
practice to keep our students, staff and community
safe and healthy.
The restriction on student use of mobile phones at
school during school hours has been particularly
successful. All staff and most students agree that
without this distraction the teaching and learning
process has been significantly improved. I would like
to thank all parents and carers for their support in
the implementation of this initiative.
Please stay healthy and safe and I look forward to a
time when we can resume normal school activities.

12SLR - Sport, Lifestyle & Recreation
It’s been almost two years, but our 12SLR class were the first elective class to gain access to our newly built and redesigned multi-purpose Canteen Area. The addition of lights, improved ventilation and insulation is going to make this redeveloped teaching and learning space a much used and appreciated outside classroom.

Years 7 – 10 Dance Program
Our Dance program in PDHPE lessons is in full swing across all Year 7 to 10 classes.
Year 10 classes get onboard with great enthusiasm as they develop their skill in learning a variety of dances such as the ‘Pride of
Erin’ and the Latin American dance, the ‘Cha-Cha’. All is looking good for their formal dance assessment scheduled for Week 3.
Year 9 Child Studies
Term 3 is an exciting time for Year 9 Child Studies students. Throughout the term students will be learning
the skills required to care for a newborn baby. This includes changing nappies, settling, swaddling, feeding
and bathing. While learning these skills in the classroom, all students will have the opportunity to take
home a “Virtual Baby” for a night. This is a computerised infant simulator which will cry and follow the
actual schedules of different newborn babies. It is the responsibility of the student to tend to the baby’s
needs. This program assists students to learn and understand that:
the demands of a newborn baby are unpredictable,
newborn’s require a great deal of time and attention and
the responsibilities of parenting will significantly change one’s lifestyle.
Once the student returns the Infant Simulator, the teacher is able to view incidences of neglect or rough
handling, as well as other data.

The Farm
It was a dry hot day
The air was sticky and sweaty
Rain was on its way
The smell was tingling in my throat
I could feel the tension
Water ran down my neck as the sky turned black
Drips of rain fell from the gloomy dark sky
It was finally here
The dry rough ground, the cool air, the animals
groaned and laid down for a rest
Peace at last, I can now rest.

Horse Riding
The sound of the roaring wind fills my ears
I can see my horse's head leaping as I knock the
barrel down
I felt let down but I have to keep going
The taste of the dust is at the back of my throat
I touch the reins and my horse's mane
The fast riding makes me feel excited
as the smell of the leathery saddle overcomes me
I am blown away with the effort
and power of my horse.
