Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority’s Environmental Learning Center in Comal County

Colors were adapted in Photoshop from a scanned color-pencil sketch done by Robert Jackson, the Principal Architect for the project.

Text and other graphics are based on an office standard.

The underlying map is from basic Google Earth, Photoshoped beneath an exported .pdf from an AutoCAD .dwg file.

Both renders were done via an ordered process that involved:

1| building a detailed SketchUp model

2| rendering the model in Kerkythea

3| Photoshoping the landscape and people

The left image is a courtyard render depicting an analemma exhibit with a basin exhibit in the central courtyard beyond.

The right image depicts the main entrance view as seen from the bus lane.

This fully representational model measures:4’ - 5” x 2’ - 11”

Its purpose is for fundraising efforts.

The concept’s outdoorexhibits areas are designed to be contained within a low site-wall designed based on the Fibonacci sequence.

The right shows the program’s main butterfly roof, oriented due North, that acts as an outdoor spine that connects the three main buildings and serves the purpose of rainwater collection to a cistern near the entry that becomes an exhibit itself.

99% of the model was built by me, Cassie Jo Garner.

The left image shows an entrance view into the orientation area to be used by both GBRA and GPS for initiating tours and events.

The model is complete with dinosaur exhibit tracks leading the way in, as well as scaled exhibit boards with 1/8” scale people participating in the activities of the program.


The right shows the main courtyard’s basin walk exhibit that gradually slopes;It is meant to have running water that flows to a slight pool representing the flow of water throughout the basin.

Also shown is a windmill and picnic tables on the right built at an 1/8” scale by me.


Legacy Plazaconcept model

This is another fully-landscaped model I helped create for a Native American Interpretive Center.

The tower, as well as much of the landscaping, was built by me based on previously done iterations.

This model was also made for fundraising efforts.


The tower serves as, not only the icon of the structure, but an entrance hub that recalls vaguely the shape of the wickiup structures built by Native Americans, demonstrated in the lower mid-left in the image on the right.


UFCUworkstation

I led the development of this workstation design for University Federal Credit Union’s PFA workstations that are now in place at several of their new branches that just opened.

Each branch has 4 tables, each aligned next to an ATM that faces customers as they enter.


Each workstation houses a CPU, a trash can and 3 drawers, as well as a lazy susan at desk height for discussions focused around the computer with customers.

The right shows a SketchUp image including detailed chairs I made to look like the ones UFCU planned to use to accompany the workstations.

I also followed the design through to shop drawings.

The left and right images are the result of splitting a 24” x 36” set sheet, with the titleblock cropped out, from a remodel branch in Westlake, Tx I worked on with Reed Critendon, our staff member who led all of the UFCU branch designs.
