Cassy O’ – George Ezra

• George Ezra is a 21 year old, English, singer-songwriter. Cassy O’ was released in February 2015 to coincide with Ezra's performance at the Brit Awards.

• This first shot introduces his name and the song title. • We see his silhouette as he faces away from us and

although we can’t see any features, we see he is playing a guitar which is stereotypical of singer-songwriters.

• We see a close up of him as he is lip syncing, his is stereotypical of artists in all music videos.

• He is making direct contact with the audience suggesting his friendly, approachable character which would appeal to fans.

• The use of a close up shot also allows us to see his face in more detail, also appealing to fans.

• This wide angle shot shows George Ezra in a medium close up in the foreground and a long shot of four young ladies in a kitchen in the background.

• This shot allows us to see his style. He is wearing a smart shirt, showing his ‘clean-cut’ look which is fashionable and will appeal to young girls and boys, as well as an older audience.

• We wonder why the girls are there, what their relationship with Ezra is and whether one of them might be ‘Cassy ‘O’, making us interested to continue watching the video.

• Throughout the video we see O shaped objects to match the lyrics. This is quirky and different, making the video stand out.

• This also shows Andrew Goodwin’s theory of using visuals to reflect the lyrics.

• As the chorus begins, we start to see things going wrong. For example, the cup is knocked over, a girl is pushed into pool and the girls have a fight. Whilst this is happening, Ezra is calmly, happily singing with his guitar, showing his laid back attitude.

• There are many cuts to close up shots of different girls’ shocked expressions reacting to the events. Their jaws are all dropped, creating a O shape with their mouths, similar to the objects shown throughout.
