The CASTOR BS241 is a low

profile, high performance, highly

efficient luminarie that offers an

alternative to more traditional

highbays. The housing is

constructed from 20

gauge steel then

mated to die-cast

corners and finished in white

powder coat. The BS241 includes

four 55W, 4100K compact

fluorescent lamps providing

19,200 lumens. The high emission

reflector is available in wide or

narrow distribution. The CASTOR

BS241 can be surface mounted,

suspended, or mounted via a

single rigid or swivel pendant.

The CASTOR BS241 is rated for

indoor/damp locations and is

ideal for high ceiling environments

such as gymnasiums, warehouses,

arenas and production facilities.

replacing 250 watt MH highbay with

BS241 Produces 35% Energy Savings

The manufacturing facility had

conventional 250W metal halide highbay

lighting. The luminaires were mounted

at 18.5ft (5.63M) in a production area

with equipment and secured racks

throughout. This made the process of

re-lamping a difficult task and resulted

in dark areas from failed or over-aged

lamps. The CASTOR BS241 4x55W

compact fluorescent was installed one

for one reducing energy consumption

by approximately 35%. As verified by the

end user, illumination levels throughout the

facility remained the same and resolved

lighting system maintenance issues.

Overall Energy Savings

• Metal Halide @ 6,237W to Fluorescent @ 4,032W = 2,205w saved

• 2.205 kW x $0.097 kW/hr x 10hr/day x 260 days = $556 in annual savings

• Light level remained the same
