Well the end is near but we are still

very very busy leading up to the end of

2014. Please keep an eye on the school

app for dates and times of events in

the next 8 days.

Farewell Mrs Weatherby

At the end of 2014 we sadly say

farewell to Mrs Weatherby. Mrs

Weatherby was appointed to Casula PS

in 1995 as an ESL teacher. During her

time at Casula, Mrs Weatherby has

worked with a wide range of students

who have had little or no English. She

has cared for the students and their

families and shown great warmth in

welcoming these students to our

school. The students still come back to

Casula and visit Mrs Weatherby. She

will be remembered as a hard working,

caring, generous teacher. We wish her

well for her retirement!

Farewell Miss Smith and Miss

Amargianitakis

We sadly say goodbye to two of our

great classroom teachers at the end

of the year – Miss Smith and Miss

Amargianitakis. Both teachers have

been at Casula for 5 years. We will

miss you both very much thank you for

your hard work and dedication to the

students at Casula! We wish you every

success at your new schools.

Guitar Group

I would like to send my congratulations

to all students that participated in

guitar lessons this year. The learning

that has occurred is a credit to you.

Thanks also to Kit, the guitar teacher

for all his hard work.

OC Orientation

Last week we welcomed new students

to our school that will be in the OC

class in 2015. We have 7 students

from Casula who will be in the class

next year. This is the largest number

we have ever had. We are extremely

proud!

Leaders to State Parliament

Last Friday Mrs Valensise escorted

our school leaders and their parents to

state parliament for a morning tea.

The morning tea was hosted by our

local member Dr Andrew McDonald. It

was a wonderful experience for our

leaders who showcased their brilliant

leadership skills.

Christmas Stall

Thank you to the P&C members who

gave up their time to work on the

Christmas Stall.

families whose child is receiving an

award at Presentation Day this

Thursday.

Kazi Hasan – National Champion!

Last week we welcomed back Kazi

Hasan from the National Athletics

held in Tasmania. This running

superstar won 4 gold medals – 100m,

200m, 4x100m relay and 4x200m

relay. He has never had any formal

athletics training, only in the past 6

weeks! We are so proud of you! You

are a shining example to others – you

are humble and hard working! You are

our star and we look forward to

hearing great things about you in the

future. See the following pages for

the photos of our great celebration.

2015 School Plan

Our teachers and leadership team are

currently in the process of planning

for our school for the following three

years. Thank you to the parents that

have returned surveys.

Part of the process is consultation

with our parent community. Early next

year, we will be presenting a parent

workshop to gain your feedback and

input. Look out for the date!

Footsteps Disco

We had a fantastic evening last

Wednesday when Footsteps Dance

hosted a celebration disco. All

students had a great time! Thank you

to the Year 6 teachers for their

organisation of the night. It was a

great fundraiser as Year 6 are looking

at purchasing some new signage for

the school hall.

Congratulations Mrs McAlister

Mrs McAlister and her husband Dane

are expecting a baby in May 2015.

Congratulations, we are so happy for

you both!

Christmas Raffle

Please remember to keep selling raffle

tickets for the P&C Christmas Raffle.

The raffle will be drawn this Thursday

at the K-2 Presentation Day. There

are fantastic prizes to be won

including a Sydney Harbour Bridge

climb. Good Luck!

Casula's Wiz Kids

As part of our Gifted and

Talented program, a number of

students in Year 5 and 6 have been

taking part in a technology group

looking specifically at coding. The

students travel to Casula High

School each Wednesday to work

with Mr Fantasia on coding and

programming lessons. The students

are really enjoying the lessons and

are gaining the knowledge and

skills required to one day write

their own software or develop

their own apps. Thank you to

Casula High for generously

supplying Mr Fantasia to guide the

students and paying the program

subscription fee for all the

students as well.

LIBRARY CORNER

Please keep returning your library

books to the library. There will be a

prize for the first class to return all

books!!!

School Banking

The last day for school banking will be

12 December.

Year 6 Mini Transition Day

Year 6 enjoyed a mini transition day

here at Casula Public School last

Tuesday. Teachers from Casula High

School Ken Silburn and Shalini Permal

assisted in the day and led a science

and geography class. Many thanks to

our yr 6 classroom teachers for

participating in the day, we had lots of

positive feedback from the students.

fun, keep fit and learn a

Martial Art. Come along
