Cat Mountain View - May 2015 1 MAY 2015 VOLUME 3, NUMBER 5 April brought with it some beautiful bluebonnets, I hope you have had a chance to get out in the hill country around Austin and enjoy them. Charlene and I drove up north of Austin in early April and were absolutely amazed by the colors blooming in the fields and along the roads. As the rains have fed the flowers, we have seen a burst of growth in yards. Specifically grasses and weeds have shot up and there are many yards that need attention around the neighborhood. One of the major functions of the board is to maintain property values, one of the ways we can do this is to maintain the appearance of yards and homes. I hope you will take a moment to review your yard and address any maintenance issues before the weather gets too hot. e Annual Easter Egg Hunt was held again at the end of March, I would like to thank the many children and their parents who came out to make it a huge success. We enjoyed seeing familiar faces and getting to know some of the new residents. Our events continue to grow and it is great to see how the neighborhood has evolved over the twenty years I have been a resident here. I would like to thank the many homeowners who have continued to pay their dues on-time each month. If you pay your dues electronically please update your payment to $47.00. We are hoping to avoid the time and expense involved in personally notifying homeowners that dues have increased $2.00 per month to $47.00. I know I have brought this up in the past three issues but there still remain a few residents that are paying the old rate of $45.00. We have reviewed our 20 year infrastructure study from Bufkin Engineering and are developing a plan to address the elements of the study that were found to be of concern. Over the next few months, we will develop a plan in conjunction with vendors based on the study report. We also, as a courtesy, notified owners of any walls that were of concern on the report. Copies of the report are available via email from Jesse. It is imperative that we maintain an accurate database with name, address and contact info (email /phone) for all homeowners in the association. Please email Jesse at [email protected] and share this information. Finally, I would ask that pet owners take responsibility for their animals. ere have been numerous complaints of dogs barking while chained / left alone in their yards. Also a handful of pet owners have been identified walking their dogs and not cleaning up after them. Please clean up after your pets, as it is your responsibility and is a growing health hazard in the neighborhood as temperatures rise. VIEWMAY 2015 VOLUME 3, NUMBER 5

April brought with it some beautiful bluebonnets, I hope you have had a chance to get out in the hill country around Austin and enjoy them.

The Annual Easter Egg Hunt was held again at the end of March, I would like to thank the many children and their parents who came out to make it a huge success.

There have been numerous complaints of dogs barking while chained / left alone in their yards. Also a handful of pet owners have been identified walking their dogs and not cleaning up after them. Please clean up after your pets, as it is your responsibility and is a growing health hazard in the neighborhood as temperatures rise.

Cat Mountain BOOK CLUBMeet The Author

All Cat Mountain Residents are invited to join the book club on Tuesday, May 19, 6:30 PM, at the Cat Mountain Clubhouse to meet local author, Ernie Wood, where he will be discussing

and signing his book, One Red Thread.

An excerpt from the book: When architect Eddy McBride, a fortysomething self-absorbed noticer of details and self-appointed seeker of truths, stumbles upon a way to visit, watch and ultimately participate in events from his family history, he finds answers to long-ago tragedies and mysteries. But each time Eddy returns to the present, he unleashes the unhappy consequences of exploring history on his family and friends. And as Eddy’s knowledge of the past grows, he turns from curious seeker of truths to frantic fixer of mistakes--present, past and by those from the present who would change the past--as he follows a devastating trail of hurt, disappearance and death.

To see a reading Mr. Wood did in mid-February at Malvern Books here in Austin search “Novel Night at Malvern Books February 12, 2015 pt. 2” and “Novel Night at Malvern Books February 12, 2015 pt. 3” on YouTube.

Or for more information on the author and his other works, go to www.erniewood.com

For planning purposes please RSVP your attendance to Adrienne Boer at [email protected]

The Cat Mountain Book Club, established in 2012, invites new residents to join us at any time and new members are always welcome and encouraged.

USE OF COMMON AREA AND CLEAN UP:When setting up for the Easter Egg Hunt, we found various

bits of trash left on the ground in and around the playscape area. We would like to remind residents the common area is for everyone to enjoy and we would appreciate if you would take as much care of it as you would your own yard and take your trash with you when you leave. Of particular concern was lighters and beer cans left on the ground that could easily be pickup up by a small child.

REMINDER HOA DUES AND PAYMENTS:I would like to remind residents that dues have increased

$2.00 per month to $47.00. If you don’t use the coupon book that was mailed to you and pay electronically thru your bank, please update your payment provider so that your account will be up to date. Please contact me and I will take you off the mailing list for coupon books.

TENNIS COURTS:The wind screens at the tennis courts have been reattached

after strong winds tore it down. We have removed the trash cans from the courts as they were being used by dog owners to dispose of dog waste. Please carryout your trash, ball containers and drink containers as you depart.
