STERILE EO Conserve the thread in a clean place. Don’t disinfect the thread with alcohol or any other disinfectant.

Store dry. Never dip the cassette pack into water to clean it!

Close the cassette pack tightly after use (the air contains moisture).

Store in a cool place. Attention! Do not leave in the boot of the car in the summer!

Respect the expiry date.

If the cassette pack is stored in good conditions, the thread may be used depending on itscomposition for 2 to 4 months after the 1st opening of the cassette pack (write the date of openingon the cassette pack). If the conditions are moderate, the thread may be used for 45 days after thefirst opening.

The synthetic absorbable sutures are absorbed byhydrolysis. Humidity and heat can activate this processof hydrolysis and affect the stability of the thread.For this reason, it is very important to choose the rightpackaging of the thread.SMI offers 3 different packages which you can choosedepending on your activity (cassette packs, reels or foil

packs). The thread may look completely normalalthough the hydrolysis has started already.So it is very important to check the quality of thethread. You make a knot and pull on the thread.The tensile strength is the best sign of the integrity ofthe thread. If it breaks on the knot don’t use the threadany more.
