INTRODUCTIONEngineering excellence, this is our onus from Day 1. We take it very seriously in Shimano. All the various departments are working really hard to develop new materials for reels construction, unique methods to strengthen carbon used for fishing rods and to introduce a reel that would redefine the way you fish.

All these effort culminated into a number of special products this season. First off, we have the new Vanquish (Pg 4). This reel promises to be the lightest reel you can ever crank that is available in the market today. The rotor is built from a revolutionary new material called, Magnumlite, that reduces cranking inertia by 20% from CI4 material. Body materials consist of our unique blend of magnesium composite to ensure body rigidity and longevity.

Next up, we have the new Antares (Pg 26). This reel needs no further introduction. Antares has already been the very top of low-profile baitcasters. The new model took us 4 years to develop! At first glance, it is easy to miss the new features. However, pick up the reel and be instantly amaze by it. Featuring a new SVS-infinity braking system that gives potentially unlimited braking control, tapered line guide and 3D machine cut handle, get ready to experience a totally new experience in baitcasting!

Our fishing rods will definitely cause many excitement amongst the anglers. Like what we do with our fishing reels, we are beginning to introduce high-end features like Spiral-X and High-Power X to more rods. The new Expride rod (Pg 53) is one which we are very excited about and feel that anglers who are looking for a lightweight, strong Freshwater rods would be keen on them as well.

For our South East Asian anglers, we developed the new Scimitar AX to suit our local fishing style. Attractively price and aggressively styled, this rod is made from Shimano’s proprietary Geofibre material for the added lifting power in the fishing rod.

The new stalwart of our CI4 range of reels. Creating new heights is the Rarenium CI4+. Improvements were made to the CI4 material to create something that is light, harder and ultimately more durable. What you get now is a reel that is amazingly light and yet, retains the strength and rigidity of a high-end metallic reel. The new Sustain benefits from the trickle down of technology from the Stella and also gets X-Ship. Unique to the Sustain FG reels is Shimano’s innovative ‘kickstand’ found opposite the handle side, this extension can easily be screwed in to either side depending on whether an angler wants a right-hand or left-hand retrieve reel. The Antares DC is a reel in its own class. This reel gives the angler unmatched casting distance and problem free casting every single cast. The DC system is the most advanced in Shimano’s DC offerings. It allows the anglers 4 different modes of cast, each with 8 stages to give a combination of 32 different braking patterns to overcome any fishing conditions.

The Metanium MG has just gotten a digital control upgrade! With the DC control now available on the Metanium series, it is now the lightest reel in its class to have the digital control function for “trouble free” casting. Weighing in at just 195/grams, it comes with a high speed 6.2:1 ratio for the standard model and 7.0:1 for the high speed model. Ideal for casting ultralight to heavy weight lures. The Metanium also comes with 8/1 SA-RB for use in saltwater. The lightweight magnesium body is also pretreated and multicoated to withstand the effects of saltwater and is ideal for use in both fresh and saltwater.

Aldebaran Baitcast Magnesium reel was evolved from the outgoing Scorpion Mg series.The design concept was to have a compact featherweight reel & the Aldebaran achieved that objective with an incredible 155gram weight! Spool diameter was also reduced to 32mm, lightest & smallest in Shimano Baitcast range so that frame design could be as low profile as possible & longer free spins could be achieved with its lightweight Magnesium spool. With this breakthrough design, this reel is ideal for casting light weight of between 4gm to 10gm. Two available gear ratios of 5.8 for power crank or 7.0 for high speed retrieve. With Shimano proven SVS brake system, accurate & long distance casting is a breeze.

Conquest 100DC series is now upgraded for the discerning luring specialist. This upgrade is not merely skin deep but encompassed technological improvement. The Digital Control circuit was redesigned to handle twice the data processing speed of its predecessor with speed of 1/2000 sec. Spool diameter is now changed to 33cm, suitable for lures as small as 2 grams! This reel has a new design thumbrest that sit 2.2mm lower than before, giving sensitive light &

When you first lay your eyes on a Talica it’s intriguing. When you feel what it’s capable of it’s amazing! An incredible amount of testing for ergonomics went into the design process of this reel and the feel of it confirms this. The TLD II A has over the years been a popular no nonsense reel that has a cult following. GlossaryThe Saltwater Barrier Gear System is an upgrade from the already proven Barrier Gear System. Built even tougher out of a new alloy that has been coated with Shimano’s propriety Barrier Gear Coating, the gear not only lasts longer but stays smoother throughout the lifespan of the reel. The SW Barrier Gears are all cold forged with the grains of the metal lying adjacent to the gear teeth. This improves strength, durability and cranking power over other conventional gear systems.

Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement Spinning Using a special cold forged aluminum drive gear and a hardened brass pinion gear (Stainless Steel pinion gear on Stella SW), reels equipped with the Paladin Gear Durability Enhancement will retain their out-of-the-box smoothness much longer than before. In fact, testing has shown that this combination of metals is more durable than an all-stainless steel drivetrain while maintaining the smoothness that Shimano is famous for.

HEG consists of not only the gears, but also the frame, setplate, and handle-side sideplate. First we increased the size of the drive gear and the pinion gear to offer increased leverage and power. By using a one-piece frame that incorporates the setplate and adding a one-piece stamped sideplate, we have eliminated flex in the drivetrain that causes normal gears to bind under pressure. By eliminating the flex and increasing the leverage, we are able to provide high-speed retrieves and deliver an incredible amount of torque, while maintaining the smooth, silent retrieve Shimano reels are famous for.

The new one piece bail system uses a solid one piece stainless alloy bail arm to transfer the line seamlessly onto the roller. The solid bail arm wire is extremely resistant to deformation and will not collapse easily. Without any joints in the bail wire, there is absolutely no risk for PE line to catch onto and fray.

The Easy Maintenance Port makes servicing the reel a breeze. No longer is it a hassle and a necessity to strip the whole reel to do a service. The Oil/Grease port allows you to maintain your reel even on the field without the need for you to strip and risk loosing reel parts.

Aerowrap is a oscillation system that lays the line at different oscillation speeds to optimize line lay as well as increase the casting distance. Aerowarp reduces line to line friction when the line is flying off the spool. It also allows for both nylon and PE line to sit tightly and evenly to eliminate the top layers of line from cutting into the layers beneath.

S A-RB are A-RB bearings that are sealed to protect against wear and tear from external contaminants.

Shimano proprietary process in which bearings are made 10 times more corrosion resistant than ordinary bearings.

Cold Forged Aluminium spool. Cold forging produces a spool with vastly superior mechanical properties due to the ability to control the direction of the aluminium grain structure. It also results in a better surface finish which is less prone to corrosion.

The spool with its radical lip design has specially been engineered to allow supreme distance casting with minimal wind knots. The multiple taper of the spool lip has been precisely calculated to ensure that there is virtually no line slap when the line flies off following the contours of the spool lip. The multiple taper also prevents lines from springing loose even when the spool is well filled, greatly reducing the chances of wind knots.

CI4 stands for Carbon Interfusion with the 4 referring to the number of electrons in the Carbon atom. Ultimately, this means CI4 is reinforced Carbon Fiber. It is over one and a half times stronger than our normal XT-7 graphite and is over 20% lighter. Because it does not contain metal, it is impervious to rust. So, as a result of its strength and weight, we can create an extremely lightweight reel with very precise tolerances.

Power AL Reel housing is made from extremely strong material which is durable and made to precise tolerance.

X Ship gear system utilizes a extra big drive gear together with new support points for the Pinion gear. This new system resulted in 60% reduction in rotating resistance which translates to light & strong cranking power.

Anti- Corrosion surface treatment which is over 2 times better corrosive resistance over other surfaces.

Varispeed uses two specially designed gears and an oscillating slider to vary the line lay during retrieve. On the downstroke of the shaft, the line is laid parallel to each other, while on the upstroke, it is laid at an angle. This line laying system ensure that each layer of line does not cut into previous layers of line. It also improves casting distance due to less effort needed for the line to come off the reel when they are laid parallel to each other.

A variable braking system athat allows you to control the amount of drag applied to the spool during a cast inorder to achieved the best trajectory to prevent backlash.

- In the event that the rod/reel to be repaired has been discontinued, Shimano reserves the right to replace the discontinued rod with a newer model that has equivalent specifications/cost to the customer.

- Further and in addition, the whole of this warranty shall not in any way whatsoever and howsoever apply to the following models/items:

Reel: FX, AX, Hyperloop, IX, Alivio Rod: Cruzar, FX

Shimano manages Warranty Program for most of its range of tackles in Malaysia, Singapore & works closely with distributors in other countries to provide this aftersales service. Most reels are warranted a 1 year conditional warranty while rods are given 2 years conditional warranty.
