AyAchE DavidStringed-instrument maker in Montpellier
David Ayache is maker of fine modern and baroques violins, violas and cellos. The manufacturing process is strictly identical to that of the craftsmen of the 17th and 18th century. Sir David Ayache is inspired by the great masters from cremona and Venice: Antonio Stradivari, Guarneri Del Gesu, Nicolo Amati, Bergonzi, Mateo Gofriler.
his instruments are made of maple and spruce wood selected and dried for at least ten years. They are from eco-managed production sites in Europe. The knowledge of the types and the growth monitoring ensure the quality of the wood.
David Ayache dispose today of 30 years old dated wood’s stock.

chIVAS SolangeRenaissance bows & baroque and classical periods
Solange chIVAS was born in Nimes in 1967 and in 1991 graduated with a Diploma in Visual Arts from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Avignon. Since 2002 Mrs chivas has been working independently from her workshop in Provence based in a village at the foot of the Mont Ventoux. She is specialized in baroque and classical bows but she also works as a subcontractor, doing finishing work for carbow, a company estabished in Marseille that makes carbon fiber bows. her bows are based upon historical examples she has seen in museum collections or that belong to musicians.Some models are characteristics but Mrs chivas can offer copies of the corelli or cramer models, or indeed make a copy of any other bow you may like.

Violins hanging from the oaken beams, instruments on the workbenches. A child’s toy among piles of wood. Dust on the old stone wall. Only the cat sleeping on wood shavings under the warm bench light.In the apparent chaos, the smell of genuine turpentine, benzoe and of heated wood bear witness to the work of the two luthiers.The violin workshop “La Violonnerie” is the result of a sol – in England – of the French violin maker yves-Antoine Gachet and the German violin restorer Ulrike Gachet (née Menk). Both of them work exclusively on bowed instruments.
In this place outside time, tradition and innovation merge happily to serve the sounds of the past and of the future.

Ghaleb hassan tries to make violins and violas entirely hand made without the use of any machine tool, in the art’s respect of these instruments; machine tool vibrations transmitted to the wood are not the same as the vibration of the human body’s warmth. The instruments are only raked and he forbids the use of sandpaper. his varnish is made by himself based of linseed oil, amber, mastic tears, sandarac and colophanuim.
his personal models are in line with Italian instruments, he signs his instruments Vittorio Razzi which is the exact meaning of Ghaleb hassan in the Italian language.

Le bois de Lutherie Wood Supplier
In the heart of Franche-comté, Bois de Lutherie combined his knowledge of the forest to that of violin making in order to offer a large selection of cut wood. From forests set in the high altitudes of the haut Jura the company extracts only the best and most beautiful spruce (epicea). It is then cut into wedges for the tops of the instrument used in making violins, cellos, guitars and harpsichords....Bois de Lutherie also selects flamed maples as well as fruit trees and boxwood, which are then cut specifically for violin making.The company offers workshops in violin making intended for the amateur violin maker, under the guidance of professional violin makers in a well-equipped workshop.

ROUILLON MarianneViolon maker
Marianne Rouillon began her activity in violin making in Mirecourt, France, the cradle of French violins. At the age of nineteen she joined the « Ecole Nationale de Lutherie Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume » and after following the course she obtained the Diplome of Art Professions. Then she went on to work with several master luthiers in Besancon and Basel; in 2005 she opened her own workshop in clermont-Ferrand. Today she mainly produces cellos and violas along with violins and baroque instruments.
